The rant and vent thread
#1
* if you don't have anything negative to say here, please don't post.
* if you don't like negativity, then stay the fuck away from this thread. baron, i'm looking at you.
* this thread is started with the express purpose of bitching about this team. if you're a positive guy and you don't like this kind of thing, then fine, start your own rainbows and lollipops thread. this is for those of us who are sick as shit of this putrid waste-of-air team.

every move hendry made in the offseason has been a bust. bradley is useless, i'm glad he's hurt. gregg is terrible. i wish he was hurt. miles sucks, i wish he'd stay hurt. heilmann is wildly inconsistent, someone hurt him please.

last night was about as gut wrenching loss as i can remember. let's go over the mistakes, shall we:

1. our gold glove 1st baseman can't catch a throw. A THROW! i get mad when my daughter drops a throw, and this asshole can't catch a throw?

2. our all star reliever, the one everyone wants to close, can't throw a strike. he fucking walked francouer on 4 pitches. you know how hard that is to do?

3. our all star catcher can't block a pitch in the dirt. oh sure, he blocked a couple later in the game, but he missed the one that counted. he forced gregg to have to pitch to another batter. you want gregg pitching to as few batters as possible.

in fact, soto can't do anything right this year. can't hit. can't hit for power. can't catch. can't throw out runners. i read that the pitchers era's are much better when hill catches. where the fuck is rick wilkins when you need him?

4. our closer served up that home run to francuer. he threw it right down the middle like it was batting practice. soto may as well have told him it was coming. no movement, straight as an arrow, right down the pipe.

5. this team doesn't come back. once that home run was hit, the game was over.

in short, this is a bad team. good teams don't implode and blow a 5 run lead in the 8th inning. we had an opportunity to move up a game on the brewers and we failed. i have zero confidence that this team can reach the postseason and with the ownership thing dragging on, i have no confidence that we can make any moves by the all star break. what we see is what we get.

We're all idiots for believing that Bradley would be anything more than a disgruntled, injured, worthless headcase.

The dude had been ahead in the the count 3-0 once the entire fucking season before last night. Pathetic.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

We should have taken advantage of last year's career seasons.

This team disgusts me. They seem to have no life to them. No tenacity. No ability to overcome adversity. I'm starting to care about them less and less.

One more month of shitty ball, and regardless of whether Aramis comes back or not, it may not matter. I probably won't give a shit anyway. What a fucking letdown of a season after such a great one. This team never woke up from the playoff disaster.

Two regulars above .255. Sickening.

Our only "all-star" selection will be lucky to be a .250 hitter.

I can't believe how often I've found myself saying, "I wish he would go down with an injury, so we can bring someone else in." Insert pretty much the entire starting lineup for "he".

How did so many of us believe that this team was a) better constructed to win a playoff series than the 2008 team, and b ) would be a lock to get into the postseason to begin with? What a fucking lie.

We are stuck with three years of Bradley making $10 Mil and taking up a corner outfield spot with his light hitting no run producing ass. Great move Jim.

Bradley is such a puss. Fricken' hurt from legging out a chopper? I know plenty of overweight guys from my softball league that can put forth the same effort and not need to take a few weeks off to recover.

How can any professional athlete be such a weiner-tucker?

We must have the fucking worst conditioning in the bigs. Everytime I see someone running hard I just assume they will pull something besides their head out of their ass. I'm talking to you Ramirez, Soriano, et al.

I feel it's safe to say that Soto was juicing last season.

I really can't see anything that resembles a playoff quality trait on this team whatsoever. How many times have we seen them just dominate another team... a handful of times, maybe. Our wins seem to fall under two catagories, either we outlast them and barely hang on or they completely fuck themselves and give us the game. Hardly ever do I get the sense that from bell to bell, the Cubs didn't give the other team so much as a glimmer of hope to win. Yet there have too many times that it seemed that the Cubs have had no chance to win a game.

On top of all that, the guy behind me on the train this morning reeked of a cologne that smelled like a combo of church incense and maple syrup... FUCK!
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.
