I figured it would be Scales since Fox is performing at least offensively (hitting .417).

In Iowa on Monday night, Miles played at 3B and went 0-5, with 3 strikeouts, one of them with the bases loaded <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Fox will replace Scales or Blanco for the AL trip I would imagine. He just isn't that valuable to the team right now.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The AL games start Friday. Seems kind of strange to send Fox down if they're just going to call him back up again in a couple days. I figured they'd just send Scales down now since he's not all that valuable right now either, except that he can play 3B, but Fontenot is hitting nicely at the moment and should be getting the starts at 3B.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

They probably wanted to get him some consistent ABs before Friday.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I thought of that right after I posted. Makes sense
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Wouldn't Fox have to stay down for 10 days barring an injury?

(Sorry just read Kid's post)

So Blanco goes down when Harden is activated this weekend then.

Here's Clapp's take on it, he was on the same train of thought that I was and thought it would've been Scales instead of Fox too:

Then we'd have too many pitchers on the roster wouldn't we?

Don't we have too many MI right now?

We don't need 13 pitchers, we barely use Snowman and Ascanio as it is. I think it will be Waddell who goes down, now that we have Marshall as a lefty in the pen.

Too bad that Snowman is out of options, because Waddell has looked decent and having that extra lefty makes our pen stronger.

I don't think Blanco goes down until Ramirez comes back, if he goes down at all. Waddell goes down when Harden comes back. Scales/Fox when Freel comes back.

By Snowman, I think he was talking about Patton. He is not out of options, we just can't drop him because of his rule 5 status. We can send him down next year as many times as we want.

And I was not aware of the 10 day rule. I guess you learn something new all the time.

I really like Blanco so far. If he continues to play like this I'd prefer him to Freel and Miles. Actually, Freel can be kidnapped by a band of gypsies for all I care.

I just love how Patton has handcuffed us into keeping him on the team all year. It isn't like we're the Pirates and can easily hide a guy on our roster.

I don't get it either. It's not like we'd be missing out on the next Maddux by letting him go back to that rock from under which he crawled out.

His minor league numbers really aren't all that impressive either.

Can't they just make up an injury for him like the Pirates did for Veal?

If the Cubs' moves this year are anything to go by, they'll keep him on the roster all year - by hook or by crook, and at the expense of a balanced roster - and then after all that, release him in the first week of next season
