Agreed. This team is so boring and mediocre most of the time I don't even feel like watching them. I've done nothing but bitch this season but I can't help it...they do nothing remotely interesting.

It sucks. It really really sucks. It's inexplicable that they are this terrible at scoring runs after scoring in bunches last year. It wasn't even one of those years where they score 12 runs one game and only score 5 in the next three games combined. They consistently scored all year in 2008.

That being said, I'm going to try to be as optimistic as I can be right now.

I don't think this offense is going to get back to form over night. They are going to struggle for a long time still before they get better. That being said, some of these guys could turn it on at some point this season. If they can just float around the .500 mark, this team is capable of ripping off tons of wins later in the season.

Recently we've seen the 2003 Marlins ( [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/puke.gif[/img] ), the 2005 Astros, the 2007 Rockies, and the 2007 Phillies have very mediocre first halves only to go on to dominate the second half and go all the way to the WS on their momentum (although the Phillies didn't make it to the WS in 2007). I know it's hard to believe this team can do anything right now, but this Cubs team easily has more talent than any of those teams did.

If Fontenot, Fuk, Reed and Soto continue to suck, no amount of greatness by Aramis (assuming that he's anywhere near the player he was before the injury) will make up for our lack of offense. That's over half the lineup, including the SP, who will suck. I'm not so sure of what we can expect from any of these people come July, including Aramis.

I didn't even mention Ramirez and I realize him being absent from the lineup isn't the only reason they can't score. Yes, they need a lot of guys to start contributing, but again this team has more talent than any of the ones I listed. It's possible.

I know, I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, but no discussion about this team in the 2nd half should exclude him.

Anything is possible, but we have more question marks right now than at any point in the past 3 years or so. I wish I had more faith, but this team has been so bad for so long now, it's tough to see anything but suckage for the foreseeable future.

CC thats exactly what I was thinking the moment Fox came into the game today.
People talk about how horrendous his D is, but that first ball to him in left he made a nice diving catch, and then he made another catch right after that. Didn't look shaky, nothing.
Soriano can't play right now, its obvious. The knee has been a factor for so long that its actually a disgrace Lou hasn't DONE HIS FUCKIN JOB and run a healthy lineup out there instead of worrying about player's feelings.
I've always been a big Sori fan, and I kept thinking that his month of May was just a trademark slump before he breaks out and carries the team. But now deep into June its obvious that just is not going to happen. His knee and his eye at the plate are completely fucked. He needs time off.

This team is a great example of why starting pitching doesn't equate to a good team. Because the starting pitching is pretty fucking good. And lately the bullpen hasn't been too shabby, either.

I'm still suffering from a hangover from last season, which could have been our best chance to make the climb to the top. I have found it hard to get excited about this season and this team isn't helping that. Seemed like last season brought some fire and enthusiasm, and this season it seems like things have regressed. Somebody needs to get extremely hot and get this team charged up, or it is going to be a long and uneventful season.

I think Johnson and Fontenot are going to continue to suck. Particularly Fontenot...the guy just isn't an everyday player. He's a good guy but its getting to the point where I get irritated when his turn in the batting order comes up cause its starting to feel like he's an automatic out(rightfully or not).
