There was a question on ESPN about what manager you'd want if you had the choice. I'm curious how you guys feel. If you'd be able to live with the fact that La Russa is an uber douchebag. Or if Joe Torre tickles any of your pickles.
I got nothin'.

Torre tickles my pickle.

Scioscia would probably be my #1 choice for manager in all of baseball.
Other current managers I really like are Ron Gardenhire, Trey Hillman, Bud Black and Joe Girardi
A guy like Joe Torre I think is extremely good at handling the press and clubhouse and player personalities, etc. But I also think he is a dumbass and one of the worst in-game managers in baseball. He has obviously been pretty lucky with the kind of talent he has had to manage with.

I'd like a former Cubs player to be our next manager. I think it would be valuable to have someone in the dugout who understands the unique pressures of being a member of this team.

Wonder if Lou will get a vote? He's probably not going to be anyone's #1 choice, but I think he's been a pretty good Cubs manager--maybe the best since Jim Frey.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

i went with francona, he's had some success with a high profile team before. as for an ex cub, how about giving bowa a whirl?
Life is a bitch, but she's totally doable.

I went with LaRussa because he means that Dave Duncan would be our pitching coach.

Scioscia, no doubt. He does a lot with not much of any offense juggernauts in the lineup.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.
