So would I, but of course, Hendry is doing it so that he can spin Millwood off to the Mets for Luis Castillo according to Phil Rogers:

#Cubs, #Mets and Rangers have talked abt 3-way deal sending Millwood to NY, Castillo to Chicago and Bradley and money to Texas.

Wow, if that were to happen, Hendry would be dead to me, and he was already on this ice to begin with.

I'm trying to figure this one out... We'd get Castillo for 2 years at $6m per year. I wonder how much money we'd have to send to Texas? Millwood only has $12m and one year left on his contract. He'd be nice to have given our pitching situation for next season. Castillo did hit .302/.387/.346 last season with 20 SB... Seems like we have another 2b on our roster that could do that if only we weren't trying to play him at SS.

is no one seeing this part of the story?

Relax.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

It's not the first time Castillo has been brought up though BT, and Hendry acknowledged earlier this offseason that he's liked him since their time together in Florida.

Bringing in Castillo would be such a Hendry move. I don't care if Steve Holley is the one reporting it -- this isn't the first time the Cubs have been named with Castillo this offseason.

A Rangers official actually shot this rumor down this morning, but again, Hendry is persistent, and as CC mentioned, we've been linked to Castillo before.

And for the record, the Castillo part of the rumor doesn't even bother me, but moreso the fact that Millwood would be going to the Mets instead.

Has anyone read anything about adding starting pitching? Or are we content with:

Z
Lilly (when he's back)
Dempster
Wells
Gorz

That has the potential to be more than a little ugly.

Maybe BT is right...

SI_JonHeyman: if minaya turns castillo into millwood (13-10, 3.67) he should get 1 more 3-year extension. not happening. #mets, #rangers

SI_JonHeyman: things minaya can get for luis castillo: sunflower seeds, a donut, an assistant clubbie. what he cant get: kevin millwood.

I know Millwood is a little long-in-the-tooth, but if he can put up a 3.67 ERA in that ballpark, in a league with the DH...damn. Butch is right...we need quality SPing anyway.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

True, but I also hadn't realized that he put up 2 consecutive years of 5+ era and 1.5+ whip in '07-08.

On second thought, I think I'd pass.

i have to admit, i thought it was strange that everyone was gaga over millwood. i didn't realize that he that good a year last year. the question is, was it an aberration or is he the real deal? at his age, i'm guessing aberration.

castillo though, why don't we like him? good average, good obp, good glove, good speed.....what's the problem?
