I went and finally saw State of Play with the mrs on Thursday night. It's in its last run here, so it was a good time to go. Only about 6 people in the cinema.
A team of investigative reporters (Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams) work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman's (Ben Affleck) mistress.
I love a good political thriller and I came into this movie not knowing the storyline or read any reviews. I came in though with a low expectations mainly due that douchebag known as Ben Affleck starring as a congressman.
Have to say I throughly enjoyed the movie. Crowe was excellent as usual and Rachel McAdams is good as a political blogger for the paper's website. She is sexy in a girl-next-door sort of way but she can act as well. Even Affleck managed to pull off being a congressman somewhat. The movie is just over 2 hours long but seemed a lot longer than that. A nice twist at the end does save the movie though.
