Buehrle is perfect through 7

Pick one: a Card loss turned into a Perfect Game by Carpenter, or Buerhle's PG being erased and replaced by him getting shelled that day.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I think you worded that weirdly.

Option one is really bad and option two is really good. So I'll pick option two.

Too much acid in the '60's.

I think what I meant was this: whether the Sox win or lose that day has ZERO effect on the NL Central standings. However, a Carp PG that turned a loss to a win has a huge effect on the Cub's chance of making the playoffs. So if Carp had thrown one, I'd be pissed.
Buerhle's PG was merely a sideshow, and doesn't affect the Cubs at all.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

look dude, i don't like either of those scenarios. why does it have to be either or? why can't i want neither to happen? why can't i just hate both teams? why do i have to justify it? it is what it is.

Of course I would pick a Buerhle PG over a Carp PG. The fact that what the Cards do affects our place in the standings makes it a no-brainer.

But that doesn't mean that I can't hate the fact that Buerhle, one of the biggest douches in baseball, pitched a perfect game. Does it?

Are people still talking about this? Aren't we in first place or something? I think I read so somewhere on the intertubes that we were . . .

It depends on the player most of all, and also depends on whether we are in the race at the time or not. I hate Buerhle WAY more than I hate Carp, but if the Cards win a game (PG or not) and it affects our chances to make the postseason right now, then I would never prefer a Carp PG.

The perfect scenario would be some no-name Sox pitcher tossing a PG while the team is in last place and 30 games out.

no, the perfect scenario would be locusts reigning down on the cell during the 7th inning stretch.

True, "perfect scenario" was a poor choice of words on my part. I should have said the lesser of two evils instead. But some sort of biblical type plague would be nice too.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Perfect through 5 now? Nuts. Has anyone ever pitched back-to-back perfect games?

Guess not. He already broke the MLB record for retired batters. The previous was 41.
