Seriously, I don't see how anyone who claims to be a Cub fan could find anything remotely positive about what he did. If it were any other Sox pitcher, I think I'd feel differently, but not Buehrle. There is not a single redeeming quality about him, nothing. Being a Sox player/fan does not make you a douchebag (see Thome, Dye, etc.). Being a Cards player/fan does not make you a douchebag (see Carpenter, DeRosa, etc.). Being Mark Buehrle, however, makes you a douchebag. He's a cock knocker, plain and simple, and I wouldn't mind never hearing his name said ever again.

I recognize the historical context of the game, etc. I can even appreciate it to some degree. I'm not a single-minded fan who only likes my team and just barely enjoys the game. I love baseball 24/7, 365 days a year.
However, to ask me to ENJOY this moment is something that I can't do with a straight face. Maybe if it were some nobody pitcher on the Sox, I might feel even remotely satisfied to have witnessed this in my lifetime, but Buehrle is either my #1 or #2 (depending on the day and what AJP is up to) most hated current Sox player. He HATES the Cubs and everything they stand for. HATES Wrigley. HATES us. He has made that perfectly clear on several occasions.
So please, please, please don't ask me or anyone else to be happy for him. Good for the game of baseball, but fuck Buehrle right in the arse.....repeatedly and until it bleeds and his entrails spill out.

OK, since I was an eye-witness to "history" I will give my opinion.
Here is the thing, I had absolutely ZERO emotional investment in this game, so for me it never had that OMG feeling. Maybe it was the fact that we were in the upperdeck and practically no one behind us so I didn't exactly feel the electricity that you would think there would be. Perhaps in the lower bowl it was different since there were more people. And again, for better or worse, I was pretty much detached emotionally. I wasn't nearly as upset as I thought I would be yet neither did I have a sense of amazement or anything like that. I do think I would have been more annoyed if I watched it on tv, I don't know why. Don't get me wrong, I was hoping for someone to ruin it right to the last out, but I never had any outward emotions either way. It was the most zen-like detachment I've had at a baseball game ever.
And this is what I think it comes down to, I can't be impressed or taken back by something I truly am not concerned with. It could have been the Mariners and the Rangers for all I cared. Was it a good game? Absolutely. You couldn't have scripted it any better, I mean that catch was right out of a movie. If this was the Cubs I would have been floating on air, because I have devoted every ounce of my emotions to them for 40 years. They are the only thing in all sports that I truly care about. Everything else is just nothing to me.
I'm sorry if this offends any of you, and while I can appreciate the significance of the feat, I have no feelings of awe or a sense of being fortunate. That has been 100% reserved solely for the Cubs.
