I would explode in my pants if we got Hermida.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

If Florida is still in the race and he is cheap, then why would they want to trade him?

That's what I was thinking. But then again, it's the Marlins. At some point in the near future, Hanley will be traded. History can't deny the fact that that city can't hold it's stars.

I hope we sign Rickey Henderson. He has an .871 OPS vs LHP

I'd much rather have Teahen on this team, not even close.

I'd agree - I'd take Teahen over Hermida. Teahen has so much potential. Remember - he was the big return the Royals got back when they shipped Carlos Beltran to the Astros a few years back.

Yeah he really does. Even if he is what he is now, he's a .290, 15 HR left-handed hitter(that hits both lefties and righties well) that can play 3b, 2b, 1b, and the corner outfield spots. He's the ideal backup type you're looking for.

Hermida would simply be a platoon guy with Bradley. What's the point really? Bradley's showing signs of coming around from that side and it's not like Hermida's sensational against righties and can't hit lefties at all. You're also basically giving up on Milton from the left side(which he'd hit well from every year since 2003) with 2 years left on his deal which would be ridiculously dumb.

Teahen lots of positions, including 2b which has been our weak link offensively, Hermida just a platoon with Bradley. Teahen's a better all around hitter anyway.

I like this line of thinking. It looks like he hasn't played any 2nd until this season and it's only a few games. I know he's played plenty of third though, so why not.

Hermida was the top prospects in ALL of baseball just four years ago. Teahan has played most of 5 seasons and has a career .272/.334/.424 line. He's nothing special and not good at any defensive position. I don't think either one of them is an upgrade for us, but I'd much rather have Hermida.

Hermida wasn't very good last year just like he hasn't been very good this year. I'm not looking for the future for extra bat, but which player helps us more over the next 2 months. Mark Teahen is a better hitter than Jeremy Hermida right now, and can play all over the place. He can also start against left-handers who he's batting .303 against, compared to Hermida's .188.

It's not like Hermida's even that much better than Bradley from that side of the plate right now as it is. Bradley's starting to drive the ball and already has the higher OBP against right-handers.

I like Jeremy Hermida and he's one of those guys like Gorzelanny that would be great to take a chance on and just like Gorzelanny, hope he gets back to what he was 2 years ago, but not for this team at the price it would cost.

You're also really asking for trouble with Milton Bradley and his contract. Are you just going to make Bradley a platoon player the next 3 years for 10 million per? You can't give up on him there yet. It's 4 bad months and for the last 6 years he's been a good hitter from that side.

And is Hoffpauir even all that worse than Hermida really? Hoff's batting .250 with a .760 OPS against righties this year, Hermida .274, .773. There's just too many things to me where I don't see enough benefits in such a deal. Teahen on the other hand gives us versatility and is a rock solid hitter. He's a great guy to have on the bench for this playoff run.
