For why?

I think they just wanted a fresh arm. Stevens will be back.

Exactly.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

Shark should have been sent down instead.

Yes. Also, fresh arm or not, Ascanio not Atkins should have been called up. Atkins has been god awful. If they wanted a fresh arm, it should have been Ascanio up and Shark down.

Last I looked at Ascanio's stats, he had been struggling at AAA.

That too. And hasn't Atkins primarily been a SP? Unless we're going to ask him to spot start and spend only a few days in the pen, I don't get it.

Ascanio (3.16 era with a high 1.27 whip) isn't struggling nearly as much as Atkins (6.64 era with a lower whip around 1.44) this season.

Ascanio: 3.16 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 47 K, 18 BB

Atkins: 6.92 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 92 K, 37 BB

Seems real strange to me.

Shark will go down when Ryan comes up I would think, that's actually the move I expected (although he can't really eat innings)

OK, that makes a little sense. So go with Atkins for about 2-3 days, then call up Ascanio to take his spot or something along those lines.
