So what is it about Dempster that despite having 11 of his 18 starts be quality starts, we've lost 2 out of every 3 games he's pitched in?
He has the most run support in losses of any pitcher on the staff. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but for a team that's 8 games over .500, we're 6 games under .500 when he starts.
I got nothin'.

What has the bullpen done in his starts? I seem to remember a lot of blown leads.

I agree. I think he's a solid pitcher but in my opinion he pitched over his head last year.

I think people have been underestimating the effect his daughter's sickness has had. IMO this isn't the real Demp.

11 quality starts are 11 quality starts. What, he doesn't inspire run support? The bullpen is his responsibility?
A quality start that doesn't equate to a win is someone else's fault...not his.

um a quality start is giving up 3 runs in six innings. That is a 4.50 era. that is not great. that is a .500 pitcher. he is responsible too

Except that only 2 of his starts are those quality starts where he gave up a 4.5 ERA equivalent.
The Cubs lost when he gave up 2 in 6 IP, 3 in 6 IP, 2 in 7 IP, 0 in 6 IP, 1 in 7 IP, 3 in 6 IP, 3 in 6.2 IP. So that is team losses in 7 QS where his average ERA was 2.62 (hope I did that correct)... so what were you saying again mikey?

His command is really suspect - he seems to walk a lot of people. I think that he's certainly capable of pitching like he did last year (and his daughter's sickness is really factoring into the equation), but I think it was a mistake to sign him to such a large deal.

Hey dumbshit, I am glad you took the time to get off Webber and Zooks cocks to join the conversation. I said nothing about Dempster. Wish you could read. I was talking about the quality start statement. "A quality start that doesn't equate to a win is someone else's fault...not his." So kiss my ass. A quality start where a pitcher gives up 3 runs over six innings is not his fault? Bullshit.

Alright let me try to break to down for you. You said that he is at fault and made it look like Dempster was giving up 4.5 runs per start equivalent, but he had only done that twice. I on the other hand looked at the numbers, in the 7 QS losses his ERA is 2.62, how exactly is he at fault for that?
Oh and cute comment about Webber (sic) and Zook, also cute comment about kissing your ass, but I will pass. And since reading is FUNdamental can you please point out in my original post where I said: "a pitcher gives up 3 runs over six innings is not his fault".
I can't wait to read your eloquent, well thought out response.
