I just wanted to see how many of you guys are into Mixed Martial Arts. I am actually very into it and it's a ncie break from baseball when they have events. It's nice to watch a sport and not get totally down when someone loses. Anyone watching this Saturday?

It's a stupid "sport" invented to take advantage of the downtime between the summer and winter X Games. Boxing and Kick Boxing and real wrestling is true sport.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

I'm not a fanatic about it, but I watch it. I used to love boxing but it ceased to be entertaining to me in the 90s. This is the only substitute for now.

MMA/UFC is incredibly popular right now. I like it much more than I like boxing, but I don't really follow either one. If I'm flipping channels I may stop and watch a bit of MMA, but I'll pass right over boxing. Boxing is old and boring. The heavyweight division is like watching a dancing contest. The lighter the boxer the better the fight. There's more action in MMA and I like that almost anything goes. The only thing I don't like about MMA is all of the douchebag fans that get all amped up and retarded.

The summer and winter x games get about 5% of the audience that MMA gets. MMA is extremely popular and will only get bigger in the near term. Again, I don't really follow it, but your statement here is opinion based and not based on reality.

I like the UFC. I don't follow it too closely, but I do usually watch the big fights, although I don't buy the pay per view stuff because I'm a cheapskate pirate, so instead I download them for free via bittorrent. Word of warning though: don't download UFC fights from public trackers. My brother received a letter from Zuffa after doing so. Private trackers (invite only) are the way to go.

While I'm not a huge fan, I can definitely see how impressive some of these guys are in their ability to not only box, but wrestle. I'll say that they're definitely good at what they do. Brawlers get their asses handed to them. It's much more than being a tough guy.
I got nothin'.
