<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Athletics released 1B/DH Jason Giambi. Seems like there's more here than meets the eye. Earlier this week, Giambi said he was healthy, while manager Bob Geren cryptically refused to say why Giambi hadn't been activated. Seems like some contender will likely take a flier on him as a pinch-hitter, though he's hitting just .193 this year.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Sign Giambi as the LH bat off the bench and send Hoffpauir to AAA?

I don't see how it would help us. He's a poor fielder and has been even worse than Hoffpauir this year. But I really wouldn't care on way or the other.

the problem with that argument Rok is that Giambi has been far worse and the plate and cannot play a lick of defense. Plus, I don't want to have to look at his pornstache. He'd fit in with the Cardinals.

That was my thought too. With people like Fox around, he's even more useless. Hoffpauir isn't used as much more than a LH pinch hitter.

Yep.
And I'm sorry, Hoff has gotten progressively worse month by month. Maybe Giambi has also, but he at least is dealing with injuries and can bounce back. His OBP is always respectable. Hoff has hit about .190 since the end of May with 4 HR AND 21 SO in roughly 44 games. And he doesn't help as a platoon partner for Bradley, offensively or defensively. Giambi could spell Lee from time to time and be a decent stick off the bench.

Is he still on the juice? Is so, sign me up. If he's not he's worthless.

If you want to send The Hoff down to AAA, by all means, do so, but don't pick up Giambi to justify doing it. Or do you really think he'll drastically improve upon his .697 OPS? Or, for those wanting him as a situational LH stick, his .641 OPS vs. righties?
A change of scenery, you say? His OPS on the road this year, away from the pitching-favorable McAfee Coliseum: .615.
Pass.

In fact, I'd be all for them bringing up Brad Snyder from AAA instead. Can he play 1B?
