Cubs vs Phillies: 8-12

Meanwhile, he hasn't been much of a problem at all defensively at 3rd. Definitely not the train wreck as advertised at least.

Another freaking shot off the wall. Now we won't score.

Actually Fox's contact rates are a bit lower than average, but not by much. I think if he lays off more balls outside the strike zone and works the count in his favor he could hit even better.

His defense at 3rd has been solid though. His UZR is pretty average, which is a lot better than many thought when they tried him at that position.

Anybody else liking the Jeff Baker signing yet? Dude can hit, always has. Nice to see him actually doing it against right-handed pitching the last 4 games as well.

Any player I don't notice myself complaining about, I love.

I like Baker. I actually think he's a decent defender at 2B as well.

And I meant the Baker trade, not signing. Duh.

All. On. Our. Dumb. Organization.

Should've been in Iowa after his first bad stint with the big club.

Samardzija has pretty decent stuff but he can't locate. He threw the ball to the same spot in the first inning as he did in this inning and the result was the same.

But I think part of the blame has to rest on whoever is calling the pitches. You can't let Samardzija try to throw the ball on the inside corner and watch him miss over the middle of the plate. Have him pitch these batters away.
