Black Swan
#1
The next Aronofsky film didn't really interest me until this bit from the script leaked. Unless some studio hack steps in and starts cutting out scenes, including this one, I need to see this movie.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->There’s a review of Mark Heyman’s script for Black Swan, soon to be a Darren Aronofsky film starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, over at ScriptShadow. There’s a lot of detail there and some good analysis, but the piece opens with a huge bit of salesmanship that will likely get at least half our readers interested in the film really, really fast: <b>“in this movie, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis have sex…And not just nice sweet innocent sex either. We’re talking ecstasy-induced hungry aggressive angry sex.”</b> Does that make all you puerile bastards more interested in a movie about ballerinas? Yeah, I thought so. More after the break.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

It could turn into Showgirls with a supernatural edge to it.

I've enjoyed everything Aaronofsky has done so far. I'm going to assume this one will be good until I see evidence to the contrary.

It also kind of sounds a little bit like Suspiria, without some of the corny horror elements, and I would guess this is partly what attracted Aronofsky to it.

Things like that never end up actually being as over the top as described. The scene, I mean. Not the flick.

This still has promise, but I am sort of unimpressed with the trailer, as I am with most over-edited trailers these days. Reminds me of Suspiria mixed in with some of Polanski's The Tenant.

Saw this tonight. It was excellent, and surprisingly the erotic scene involving Portman and Kunis actually didn't disappoint. Hopefully it gets a wide release, because the audience loved it as well. That is all I will say.

4.5/5 stars.

This is a little off topic but it's Mila Kunis. Also, it may be a little NSFW-ish. Gentlemen, start your boners....

Natalie Portman definitely deserves Oscar consideration. I still think the lead from Winter's Bone should probably take home the Best Actress Oscar, but Portman should get a nomination. She clearly poured everything she had into the role. I like the movie a lot, but it didn't have quite the same visceral impact that Requiem had. That's not necessarily a criticism because very few movies have the same visceral impact of Requiem...

It was actually very similar in a lot of ways to The Wrestler, thematically. But Natalie Portman is a lot more fun to look at for 2 hours than Mickey Rourke.
