So Sullivan says the Cubs will be shopping him the winter. Discuss.

Is it possible Sullivan doesn't know what he's talking about? Who will be shopping him? Hendry? Will Hendry have a job this winter?

Unless we are going into full-on rebuild mode, there is no reason whatsoever to trade Zambrano. None.

Sullivan is essentially saying that Hendry will be back with the team.

Z is not the reason that this team didn't perform this year.

Starting pitching is the one area that has excelled this year so the Cubs are going to rebuild in an area that they don't need to address. Sounds like the need to get more left handed in the last offseason or another great Cubs game plan.

Smear the talent that you have in the media and then attempt to trade him. Send the player packing with a bunch of Cubs money while getting players like the great Jerry Hairston Jr in return. Finally, overpay for guys like Todd Hollandsworth to replace the talent that departed.

It didn't turn out that well before.

Yes, Z can be frustrating but he usually performs and can eat innings. He may not be an Ace but he is damn close to it.

You think Sullivan has thought it through that far?

Sullivan is a fool. But I think it is wise to shop Zambrano. If we can't get what we need than don't trade him. It might be good for his motivation as well (it could prove disastrous too, considering he's psychotic). We are not competing next year. Z is a solid pitcher that teams like the Mets might overpay for. His contract is burdensome for us and goes for several more years. If we can unload ALL of his salary than I think we should trade him. And the we should begin the rebuild. I honestly would have more fun rooting for a bunch of energetic young guys try to finish above .500 than a bunch of overpaid lifeless veterans. The problem is that we don't have a bunch of young guys ready in the system.

Coldneck wants to cut/trade everyone. He wants us to field a 7 person roster and pay 140 million for it.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

Z is like the 23rd or 24th man on the list of current Cubs I'd want to trade.

Who does Sully propose we replace him with? He was on the radio this morning sounding like he was vindicated for being the first to jump all over Z years ago. I think as usual, he is uninformed and is letting his personal issues get in the way.

Yup.

There isn't anyone who will be a free agent that we will be able to get to replace Z's production for cheaper. If we're trading Z, we need it to be part of a larger rebuild and just get prospects in return.

Sullivan is a stupid douchebag.

Maybe we can trade Sully to Milwaukee for Mike Hunt.

Hola! Me llamo Carlos Zambrano. You call me "Big Z" if you like. I am only 28 but I've been pitching for 9 seasons in da big leagues. I luh da Cubs and I pitch good for dem. My record is 104 and 67 so I have win percentage of .608 (12th active, 89th career.) My career ERA is 3.5 (12th active.) I get angry and throw too hard some time buh I don't give up alotta hits as you see my WHIP is pretty good (1.298 24th active.) I dunno what it means, but someone tole me my adjusted ERA+ 127 which must be pretty good cause it's the 9th best out of everyone else playin right now. I make good money but I can field ok...BUT I LOVE TO HIT!!! Which I good at for a pitcher, you know? Oh, and I only 28 years ole!!! I lub my country and I luv Chicago, but I have only one regret. I never shoulda gave dat reporter Scully or Sully a noogie in front uh ebryone in like 2004 cause he did not like dat and says bad things about me now. He knows I could break him though.
