Exactly. He has all this job security, and yet every OTHER GM the Cubs have had who made the playoffs 50 percent of the time, put together a team that nearly won 100 games within the last 12.5 months and was over .500 for three consecutive years was IMMEDIATELY fired when they dropped to only 5 games over .500. What a double standard!

Also, he should be banned for life from baseball just in case he manages to escape and re-enter the US some day.

Yet another of my favorite catch 22's. Hendry is somehow a douchebag for signing Marquis AND a douchebag for trading him away.
(By the way Mikey, I don't think Hendry traded Marquis so he could get his mitts on Luis Vizcaino. I think he traded him for the 5 million in salary they saved)

Wuertz, Pie, Cedeno & Hill. Unless Heilman resigns with the Cubs, we'll have Hank Williamson (IA fodder) and a yet unnamed player to show for it.

Or do we get the kings ransom for the shortstop with the .593 OPS this year? Pie got us a decent return, but Heilman blew up (as middle relievers tend to do).

i don't hate hendry like kb does, because truth be told, hendry has done some good things for us. having said that, he had a real bad year last year. and the back to back playoffs are nice and all, but given the kind of payroll he was handed, two first round sweeps just isn't good enough. it's time for a new direction. he tried hard and he failed.
i'm all for cleaning house. we have a long ways to go before 200 years is up.

I don't think anyone is advocating keeping Hendry on forever, and no one is saying that he hasn't made some boneheaded mistakes, some even potentially disastrous ones. At the same time, I'd be shocked if Ricketts kept him around past 2010 if we have another sub-par season.

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy
