It's possible that Soriano's OPS cratered 150 points from last year simply because he was a year older, and it's also possible that his OPS dropped almost 200 points from roughly the time he was injured THIS year to the end of the season because he got 4 months older, but I'm guessing the injury had something to do with it.

Who could have foreseen that paying for the most expensive hitting coach in baseball - a guy whose success was intimately tied to an offensively-inclined ballpark - would turn out to be a waste of money? WHO I ASK?!?!?

I think Fontenot, Soto, and Baker have shown improvement from their work with Rudy (and Fontenot has been a very vocal proponent of Rudy's teahings). Lee is always a slow starter, Soriano is usually a slow starter, and ARAM... I have no idea what his excuse is (stadium ventilation?!?). Maybe Theriot should spend more time with Rudy... or maybe his spring numbers are evening themselves out here in this first couple weeks. Regardless, blaming Rudy for anything this early isn't productive.
