YES! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

More reason to hate this douche. I love this trade, as long as Pierre doesn't perform as he did in '09, which I hope was an anomaly.

Why would 2009 be an anomaly? His average, OBP, and SLG would pretty much in line with his career averages....maybe just a tick higher. I see no reason to think he won't put up the same kind of numbers he always does. There is no reason to think that he won't hit .290+ with an OBP of .345+.

What Butch said. It just appeared to me that Pierre has been kinda shitty since 2005, and that 2009 was an outlier. Who knows, maybe he's back to his 2003 Marlins self, but I doubt it.

Pierre filled in admirably for Manny during the suspension but he lost a lot of his "good guy" luster in LA. Despite clearly being the 4th most talented OF on the roster he constantly bitched and moaned about not playing and made a huge fuss when his consecutive games played streak was ended.
His last year numbers are also somewhat misleading because while he appeared in 145 games he only started 76 and only played the OF in 103 (meaning 42 of his appearances were as a PH). Ironically, he ended up being a very good 4th OF and his numbers last year reflect that. He'll go back to being below average as an everyday player and leadoff hitter.

Dodgers are paying $10.5 of the remaining $18.5 MM on Pierre's contract with the White Sox paying $3MM this year and $5MM next year.
Assuming Teahan moves to the infield, the White Sox have an outfield of Quentin, Pierre and Rios with Jones and Kotsay as replacements. After the White Sox jettisoned Thome and Dye, are the White Sox just trying to get older again? http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/ne...id=4744955

I could see the Sox competing next year in the Central.

They should compete pretty easily. Their starting pitching is solid and every team in the AL Central sucks except the Twins (and the Tigers are in sell mode).

The Cubs as they stand would be favored to win that division.
