The difference is that usually only the most elite Cuban/Asian players get drafted (or signed) -- and usually only after they've played at an elite level in their league for several years.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The difference is the initial price tag. You take a significant risk with signing established Asian players and Cuban defectors.

Also, of the list you gave Sean, I don't know that most of those players actually earned the pay they were given.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Don't call me Sean unless you wanted a busted face.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

What's wrong with Sean? If he called you Penispolisher I could understand the hostility.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Penispolisher has a nice ring to it.

I realize that. I was the one who wrote the list you referred to. Not Scarey. It was a mild joke that was obviously didn't pan out the way I intended.

Apparently the Reds signed him. Reportedly for 5/30.

That's a lot of money to invest in a guy whose career will be over once Dusty sprinkles his magic dust on him.

That is exactly what I was thinking...it is only a matter of time before Dusty destroys this guys arm.

5/30 doesn't really seem like that much. If he even comes close to living up to the hype, it's a steal.

The recent hype has been saying that he's destined to be a middle reliever, like a tan Kyle Farnsworth.

All expectations are that he will spend most, if not all, of this year in the minors. So that's 20% of the contract for a minor leaguer.

We paid close to 20% of Shark's contract for him to be in the minors...didn't we?
