Bradley traded??
Hendry said what he should have said. He defended the Cubs organization, and said that Bradley's claims of everyone else was to blame but me attitude could not have been further from the truth.

Brick is right, if Hendry came out and said "We traded Bradley because he was a detriment to our team, and to our fans. He had to be moved to keep the harmony in the clubhouse..." then Bradley's claim that he was getting hate mail from inside the organization would have had some legs to stand on. You have to be very careful when claims as serious as that are made.

The White Knight saved the day, then, I guess.

That's all I've got - Hendry would like the world to believe the only reason Bradley was traded was because he "didn't produce." Maybe Hendry had good reasons for saying that, maybe he didn't.

I think it stinks.

Good discussion.

Everyone who knows anything about baseball, the Cubs and Bradley know why he was traded. Hendry knows the fans know why he was traded. But it would validate everything Bradley said if hendry said he was traded because he was a piece of shit

There's a marked difference between saying "Bradley was traded because he didn't produce," and saying the minimum needed to be truthful and to diffuse Bradley's venom.

"Milton's claims are bogus. Milton needs to look in the mirror. It didn't work out with Milton and the Cubs. We made a mistake in signing him, we traded him, good luck to him."

Is it really that hard?

No. He added - twice - that Bradley came the Cubs and did not perform. Hendry went so far as to say the "only problem" with Bradley was the "lack of performance."

I mean, what the hell is that? Totally unnecessary to be said.

But there's a reason he said it.

He said what he needed to say to clear the air and still tried to save face. I didn't really get the vibe that he was insisting he traded him *only* for lack of production. More that his lack of production is what caused the negativity. I know that's not what the exact quote says, but I don't think the way he said it was a big deal.

I have been hard on Hendry the last couple of years, and to be honest, I don't know how he still has a job after EVERY move he made last season imploded, but I respect the way he has handled Bradley. He admitted his mistake and tired to fix it as best as he could after the mistake was made.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

But he DIDN'T admit his mistake, Fella. That's what really pisses me off. His mistake was signing a guy with OBVIOUS character problems, and then when those character problems were the REASON the guy didn't work out, he is forced to trade him.

The only "mistake" Hendry now admits to is signing a guy who "didn't produce." Hendry's mistake was far, far worse than that. Signing a guy who sucks is a mistake that EVERY GM makes every year. Signing Milton Bradley to a multi-year, big money deal? That's a mistake that only ONE GM has ever made.

Getting hot under the collar.... I apologize....
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I think you're kind of splitting hairs here. Of course Hendry made a mistake, he certainly acknowledged that by suspending Bradley and trading him, and I'm sure he's reminded of it every time Milton Bradley's name comes up, but it's not worth focusing on one little quote and making a bigger issue out of it.

So Hendry must outline his mistake line by line?

Do you also think that Lou should have apologized to MB in front of the team after doing it privately and to the media?

I'm probably bringing an unfair amount of my frustration with Hendry into it. But when the guy says the only problem with Bradley was his lack of production? It just pisses me off. I don't know why it makes me so mad - it just does.

He's stupid enough to sign Bradley and smart enough to have some Machiavellian reason for a comment to a reporter?

He was a nice guy. Made some mistakes, but also did some good things. Basically, your average Joe. He met this girl, and she was just an absolute bombshell. Think RuPaul in drag. Anyways, this chick had a reputation as sort of a hot head. My friend didn't care, though, since she also had a reputation for being wild in the sack. The courtship went really well, and they shared a nice spring break. I though things were moving a little fast, but my friend wouldn't hear of it, and soon she had moved into his place. From there, it was a downhill. She talked shit about his friends, was rude in front of his family, took money from him without asking, and, to top it all off, she was hideous without her makeup on and would only have sex on coke. The final straw was when she got drunk and crashed his car. The next day, he tossed her shit out of his apartment and had the landlord change the locks. To this day, she still brings their relationship up and blames him for all the shit she pulled.

The worst part for Tim was the skeez he slept with after psycho ex-girlfriend bitch. This ho was missing teeth, was morbidly obese, and was generally unhygienic and unkempt. Not to mention she had already let a lot of people score on her. Thankfully, that didn't last long and I think he was probably drunk when it happened. I think her name was Carla, or something.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
<!--sizeo:1--><!--/sizeo-->

Are you calling Marlon Byrd Skeeze who is missing teeth, morbidly obese, and generally unhygienic and unkempt? Im assuming the first part was somewhat about how Bradley fools people into "getting into bed" with him

I was actually referring to Silva, hence the name "Carla."

Er, I mean, that was a true story.

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

Sorry, Beaze...that's just not his game. His assaults on Hendry are no longer just an argument, they've become his motif.

As best as I can figure (to borrow parlance from another era), it's about selling papers.
