Bradley traded??
This trade has turned out to be incredibly one-sided. Jim's biggest strength always seemed to be in actual, old-fashioned trades, and, although it's early, it seems like he hit this one out of the park.

He'd be a kick-ass Assistant GM.
Anyway, Silva was awesome today, in a much-needed win.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Still say it was as skillful as picking Powerball.

Eh. I know what you're saying, and it's definitely a part of it. Then again, you can't scout and identify correctable flaws in the 32 ball.

QUOTE UPDATE: The LAPD has confirmed to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times that Bradley was arrested for violating California penal code section 422, which involves making a “criminal threat.” That’s all we have right now.

9:15 PM: Here we go again.

According to King 5 Sports in Seattle, Milton Bradley has been arrested on a felony charge in Los Angeles County. We’re waiting for more details to emerge regarding the specific nature of the crime, but the Mariners may have finally found the loophole they need to void the rest of the his contract.

Bradley, who turns 33 in April, is owed $12 million in 2011.

Meanwhile, the Cubs will pay $6.5 million for Silva next year, plus a $2 million buyout.

Of course, I know that's ridiculous. I'm just saying, it's interesting how it played out.

They're not going to get out of the contract for an off-the-field arrest. Not with the strength of the MLBPA. The Mariners will end up paying virtually all of what they owe him. The Cubs easily got the better of that trade.

Didn't Denny Neagle have his deal voided because he banged a prostitute?

They tried but ended up settling with him. That might happen, but they'll be on the hook for most of his contract.

I guess we'll see what the "criminal threat" was; there are some things that even the MLBPA wouldn't want to touch.

There are, but I don't think "criminal threat" is one of them. Yeah, I mean if he threatened a terrorist attack, maybe not, but short of that, the MLBPA is as strong as a sports union gets. If they don't defend Bradley here, it undercuts them anytime in the future a team tries to void a contract for off-the-field conduct.
