Are you surprised given that he also misspelled Hundley?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I was gonna say that I didn't think there was any way this poster was real, but I didn't want to scare him off.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Hundey does have a nice ring to it though, I must admit.

I think I would have rather had this Todd Hundey on the Cubs instead of what this fellow was going for.

Interesting that $2 MM of the $17 MM per year is deferred without interest to future years so the Cards are on the hook for paying Holliday until something like 2029.

Just hope that Hendry doesn't see this and use it in all his future contracts. I can imagine that Jim offering an Aaron Miles-type player $10 MM a year with $7 MM deferred until 10 years past the end of the contract life. Imagine attempting to budget for a GM's mistakes a decade after the mistake was made.

They won't be paying Holliday in 10 or 20 years. They'll purchase an annuity each year at a dicount to the $2 Million which will payout in 2029 9or whatever it is). Basically, it's just Boras' way of making Holliday's contract look bigger.

The Cards can buy an annuity today for the entire contract. The deferment provides them additional payroll flexibility. It will be interesting how the deferment is treated according to the luxury tax or a potential future salary cap after 2012.

Would just hate to see the Cardinals have salary issues come 2019 because of a deal they made in 2010.

I don't have time to read through this whole thread but I heard on the internet that because of this Holliday deal the Cruds might not be able to sign Fat Albert after next year. Is that true?
