Obviously this is a horrible tragedy and I can't even begin to imagine what Angel is going through.
I hate to be selfish at a time like this, but should we be worried that this experience might in some way jeopardize Guzman's career? Maybe we do need some insurance in the pen.
I feel dirty for even posing this question, but someone has to bring it up.

As soon as I saw this thread, I immediately had the same thoughts. And then I felt like a bastard. So, at least you're not alone.
My condolences to the Guzman family.

Don't worry guys...for about 5 seconds I thought how much it sucks for Guzman....but then the next thing that came to my mind was that Heath Bell sounds a whole lot better right now. I am also a bastard for thinking about the team

This story isn't there anymore. Was it a hoax?

No, the link doesn't work, but the story is on MLB.com. You have to search for it, but it is there.

I just updated the above link. Not sure why it was moved, as it was there for most of the day. No hoax, sadly.

I think the thoughts we all had (first condolences, then concern for Guzman's performance) is natural, if icky.

This will be either really positive or negative to Angel's performance, no doubt. We can expect either Favre on that Monday Night after his dad passed, or a loss of confidence.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

I'm glad he has some time to do some grieving before he's under the microscope again.

Or, or, or something in between, maybe.

Anyone else read this article about Guzman?
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cu...T-cub22.article
I had no idea that Angel was there with his brother and best friend until they both passed. This was tough for me to read all the way through. I'm very concerned about him, and not just for selfish baseball reasons anymore.
