He has degenerative back troubles, which isn't good for any player, much less one of his ilk. We dodged a bullet in missing out on him. He just signed a large extension and is getting up there in years.

Yeah, but I still wonder if he could have made a difference for us in the playoffs during that 2007-08 stretch. Probably not, but no reason to waste time speculating about it.

After 2007 and 2008 I never want to hear his name again. Nothing drove me more crazy than hearing the "B-Rob is almost a Cub" trade rumors. Well, that and the Peavy talk last off season. How long were both men "almost Cubs"?
