You're probably right, but it has absolutely nothing to do with today.

Silva? Kennard? Do you think those are the guys the Cubs will be trotting out there?

Yes it does, because of Guzman. Huge question marks on over half the roster, our bullpen is a mess, and we have one of the worst defenses in baseball. Not good ingredients to contend for a championship.

Well, I'll give you Guzman, but based on the timing of your post, you'll forgive me for thinking it was about the Spring Training game you were watching.

It definitely made me more angry and probably had a bit more to do with the timing of the post, yeah.

I know I'm often overly optimistic, but I'm going to wait till the actual season starts before I start worrying.

Did anyone ever think that this would be a "fun" season? Did anyone actually look at our roster stacked next to teams like the Phillies and Yankees and say, "Yea, we're right there."

The answers to those two questions should be no.

You mean the roster that really wasn't too different from a team that won 97 games 2 years ago? Injuries and about everybody outside of Lee and Lilly performing worse than expected killed this team last year. And still, they won 83 games with most everything going wrong. We're not in the AL East. We're not in the NL East. If you get in, you have a chance.

See, it might not be that bad after all.

Just don't let Silva any where near the mound.

Silva's useless. He needs to be gone. His totally sucking today was good because the realization of this and the necessary action needs to be under way sooner, rather than later.
