My take: shopping Fuk for a comparable talent? Sure, why not?
Shopping Fuk to make way for freaking Colvin?

Unless there's a team that's willing to take on ALL of Fuk's contract, I just can't see the Cubs being willing to risk moving him at this point.

Isn't all of his contract just this year?

Well slam my ass. I thought he only had a 3 year deal for some reason.

Isn't anyone the slightest bit worried that Colvin is hitting .455,
and has an OBP of exactly .455? (!)
Sixty six at-bats and zero walks...you don't think that's going to
be exposed in regular season games?
I love that he's raking.
But didn't Bradley hit .450 in ST last year too?

Yes, it concerns me.

However, when you're getting a hit in half of your at bats, there aren't a whole lot of at bats in which to take a walk.

Yeah but Coach made a great point and I've heard others say the same thing: He's working the count in his favor a lot it seems and then crushing good pitches to hit. I'm not saying that will continue and surely pitchers will then try to get him fishing more, but if you're getting good pitches to hit, hammer them. He's not just hitting little singles through the left side. He's driving the hell out of the ball. And there's no reason to think he can't keep doing it with the 25+ pounds of strength he's put on.

Good answers by Ace, Clapp, and Coach. Kind of inspiring, even. Fuck yeah!

Damn, I hope this works out. I would love it if Colvin became a serious player.
I love it when I'm proved wrong about a Cub, like with Fuk last year, or Dempster two years ago (and probably many other times).
It'd be awesome to have a solid young OFer (and with Soto, Castro, etc., the makings of a solid core of youngsters).

I'm so proud of Colvin. He has come a long way since stealing cars.

Loads of guys rip shit up in ST. I usually somewhat downplay ST stats. But Colvin's are so impressive they bear watching. They are also, as others have pointed out, in line with his minor league history of not being a guy who will take too many pitches or walk much. Now if, as someone pointed out, he hits .450, I don't care if he strikes out 250 times. But we know that's not real. In ST you see lots of odd things. I'm hoping this isn't one of them. I like guys like Colvin - he's a hitter - very aggressive...

As long as Colvin doesn't entirely follow the Jeff Francoeur guide to success, he has a chance to be decent.

Yeah, I think that's a pretty good comparison. Colvin has been hitting the shit out of the ball, no doubt, Francouer did for a while too, but guys with zero plate discipline tend to struggle once pitching figures them out and exposes their weaknesses.

For now I think Colvin will be a good spot starter/pinch hitter but I'm definitely not convinced he will ever be a consistent, successful regular. Guess we will see.

One thing Colvin has goign for him is he seems to be able to really drive both good fastballs and hard sliders from righty pitchers. So he might be a very nice asset in late innings against good right handed closers.

I kind of see him winding up somewhere between Francoeur and Alex Rios.
