You sound like a dick.
I think a walk of fame at the ground level of the Triangle Building would be great...but frankly, these statues are huge and relocating them later is going to be problematic. Doing away with them would trigger an outcry and there may be no place to put them. The ground on which they stand has more important uses in its future.
This might be a mistake...but not because Billy isn't deserving.
Frankly, Jack Brickhouse was far more deserving than Harry...just not as marketable.

Seriously I understand the love for Santo, but a statue? He doesn't deserve much more than a Santo bobble head giveaway night.

I don't mind him having a statue. He just should wait his turn behind many other deserving players.

I don't think there is any uproar. He made that up. Why would there be? That would be fucking ridiculous.

I think it was last year there was that whole movement on WGN radio to "Get Ron Bronzed". I don't remember who but he was petitioning to get a statue of Ron up. Santo himself thought it was an honor but Billy was more deserving. He even said to put one up of Billy first. I assume he meant without Colt 45.

Since Santo and Billy were good friends, played almost their entire careers together side-by-side (including coming up through the minors together), and were roughly equivalent in terms of on-the-field value, why not do a statue where they're both represented?
Most statues I've seen involve a man on a horse, so I don't see why 2 guys would be a problem.
And btw, just because the writers haven't properly rated Santo yet, doesn't mean that he wasn't as good as Billy. He made 9 All-Star teams (Billy-6), and while Billy did flashier things like win 2 batting titles, Santo had huge OBP years, and won 5 Gold Gloves at third.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I doubt there will be any uproar. Those people won't have legs to stand on.
Too soon?

Trust me, I know I'm a dirty sonuvabitch on a first class ticket to Hades, but someone had to be the jackass to do it.

I remember Bob Uecker being in the booth with Pat and Ron. Pat and Bob were talking about fishing on Bob's boat. Ron asked Bob why he didn't ever get invited out on his boat. Bob's response, "I didn't know if you had sea legs."
