If they think that is how he would be most helpful to the team AND that he would be more helpful than others, I don't see a problem with it. I don't think he has anything else to prove in the minors really, so I see no problem with promoting him.. I just hope they aren't planning on t his being a permanent move which I'm 99% sure they aren't.

I read somewhere that his success this year has been built on something like a really low BABIP and a really low home run rate, or something like that. Things are not sustainable.

But what about his previous two years, where he was awesome in every respect? I don't think he's a future star, but I agree - he looks like a future starter to me.

Maybe Vitters just needed to see better pitching.

Everything was there for him in his numbers in Daytona except for the slugging and if there's anything the FSL is famous for outside of bad field conditions it's low overall slugging.

Whatever happened to the days when teams brought up young pitching prospects by having them first work out of the pen then move to starting?

So I see Vitters already has 3 errors at Tenn. Anyone know how he's progressing at 3B and whether or not a move to the OF or 1B is in his future?

What I've heard about his defense is he's got a strong arm and poor footwork. Sounds a lot like Aramis when he first came to the Cubs. I hope that at least try him out in the outfield, especially if he's got a strong throwing arm. Reps at first base would be nice too. The only problem out of that is we have absolutely no plan at third if Vitters doesn't stick there. I understand Vitters isn't a given, but at least it was a plan for when Aramis leaves.

It's really amazing how sharp that shift has been - you almost never see pitching prospects being brought along as relievers first. Or, at least not nearly as much as you used to see. Wasn't it as recent as 15 years ago that that was the norm?

Clearly, Chad Tracy is the answer to our problems.

In any event, Matthew Cerda must have gone through SERIOUS slump because he had a huge BA for a while early.
