2010 Minor League Roundup
For all of the call-ups, Iowa just keeps on winning. If they go to the playoffs, do the Chicago Cubs still get the pick of the litter for the 40 man roster expansion, or will they lay off in hopes of letting this team win the PCL championship?

I think it would be great experience for Sandberg to win any sort of championship. That would make me feel a bit more comfortable about his preparedness to lead the big league club.

You know the impressive thing with him this year is simply that the big club has nabbed what, 15 rookies to play at one point or another? And yet he keeps winning. I like that, and I like the fact that he takes what he has, and turns them into winners. You want to take my top couple of arms and field players? Fine, I'll still win. Pretty strong IMO.

I'm speaking from memory, so correct me if I'm wrong. I believe Sandberg's first three minor league teams lost a lot of games. IMO the manager has little to do with wins and losses. Good players = good team. A good manager is one that can stay out the way, keep his players healthy and happy, and keep the fans off his back by not throwing out a retarded lineup every night or letting his starter throw 125 pitches every time out.

His first year with Peoria they went to the Midwest Championship game, and this year Iowa is kicking ass, but his overall record is right around .500 I believe.

It appears McNutt and Bibens Dirkx have hit the rookie wall. Both have probably never pitched so many innings in a season.

That ERA is from one start for McNutt.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

Didn't realize he was called up, but I seem to remember a few other recent starts with similar stat lines. Might be "misremembering" though.

In three starts with Daytona in August, he had a 1.80 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP. July 9th he had one of only two of his starts all year where he allowed more than 3 earned runs and July 20th he had his outing shortened to 1.2 IP because of his blister. Other than that, he has been fantastic.

Kyler Burke sighting. I'm guessing his stellar 2009 was not a sign of things to come. Tough year for him. Still better than Michael Barrett.
