2010 Minor League Roundup
Very nice rebound start by Wallach.

So... it's pretty obvious that Willson Contreras has no concept of defense. 10 errors in 12 games?

To be fair though, the Cubs are moving him from catcher to 3rd. I guess he was paid to hit, and he's doing that so far.

How do you know anything about somebody that is on the Cubs JV squad in the AFL. This is a serious question.

That's the DSL actually. I know about him because he signed a big bonus with the Cubs last year, reportedly $900,000 which is pretty big for an international free agent. For comparison, Hak-Ju Lee signed for an even million. He subsequently was suspended by MLB for violation for their substance abuse policy.

NSBB usually has a post in the minor league section that details international free agents. Contreras was a somewhat big story last year though and I actually read about him in several other media outlets.

Here's a question: with Robinson Chirinos promoted to AAA, does that mean the Cubs expect Welington Castillo to stay with the big club? And if so, does that mean Koyie Hill is gone when Soto comes back?

It could just mean they don't expect Soto back until September 1st, and then all three can stay on the roster.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

Yeah, I thought about that - and it could also just be that the Cubs don't mind Chirinos and Castillo splitting time at Iowa for a couple weeks, and then Castillo comes back on September 1.

Is Rhee still considered a pospect? It seems he's never really recovered from his surgery.

He's had a couple of decent starts, but you're right in that he's not been very impressive at all. I'm hoping he's just needing a prolonged recovery much like Liriano did. If he has the same results next year though, I don't think I'll be very confident in his potential.
