Every time I look up, he's hitting 2 doubles. Apparently I'm only looking up once a week.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I doubt his name ever gets mentioned in these captions if he goes 0-4 with 3 strikeouts, so it's probably just a coincidence. But yeah, it seems that is the case whenever I check this page as well.

Yeah its double or nothing.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

You know, Shark isn't the most popular fellow round these parts... but if we're going to wave the white flag at the trade deadline, I really think we should just turn the team over to the young guys. Let Shark become our #5 starter, and throw him out there every 5 days, and see what happens. Don't yank him around if he has a disaster game. Let him learn from it, and try again in 5 days.

What's the downside of this? The only one I can think of is that we lose a whole lot of games, but if we aren't making a playoff push, who cares? In fact, it may benefit us, because it'd give us a higher pick in next year's draft, and by all accounts, it's gonna be one of the most loaded drafts in <i>years.</i>

Win-win. Play the kids and see if they can hack it.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Or it could destroy any possibility of ever getting rid of him. If he's pitching well in the minors...deal him now.

He has a no trade clause and is set to make 2 million next year. Nobody wants him and if they did, it's likely that he won't want to go somewhere else. He's a Cub till the end of the 2011 season. This is a fact.

And KB, the only detriment I see is he would take starts away from other guys like Jackson, Diamond, Coleman, etc.

He wouldn't waive his NTC to pitch in the majors if someone came along and though he was worth $2 million dollars? And would the Cubs not pick up part of that to not be paying all of it to some guy in the minors?

If a major league team came along and guaranteed him a rotation spot, he would probably waive the NTC. Nobody is going to do that though. The guy has posted a pretty ERA, but his peripherals suck. You're not going to trick a GM into taking the guy. There are plenty of guys in other club's farm systems that can do what Samardzijia does, but they don't cost $2 million. They know. We know. Even if the Cubs pay 2/3 of it, they could still find someone cheaper.

The only way they could get some other team to take him is if we paid enough of his contract so that his salary was comparable to that of a regular rookie and they traded jack shit back to us. At that point, why even make such a trade?

Let Shark become our #5 starter, and throw him out there every 5 days, and see what happens. Don't yank him around if he has a disaster game. Let him learn from it, and try again in 5 days.

What's the downside of this? The only one I can think of is that we lose a whole lot of games, but if we aren't making a playoff push, who cares? In fact, it may benefit us, because it'd give us a higher pick in next year's draft, and by all accounts, it's gonna be one of the most loaded drafts in <i>years.</i>

Win-win. Play the kids and see if they can hack it.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Or it could destroy any possibility of ever getting rid of him. If he's pitching well in the minors...deal him now.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

He wouldn't waive his NTC to pitch in the majors if someone came along and though he was worth $2 million dollars? And would the Cubs not pick up part of that to not be paying all of it to some guy in the minors?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I don't think it would be a good idea to do something bad to him, though.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yes it would. You get two buckets and quick dry cement, I'll rent the boat.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I think I should alert the authorities.

Fixed.

Shark will be useless until we release him and he is signed by either the Cards or White Sox.

I'm with KB...just call up Shark and let him pitch every 5th day and see what happens....it isn't going to hurt us, it isn't like we are in a pennant race or anything. Heck, it might actually help us and our draft position

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

The guy has a record of 7-1 with a 2.76 era. First let me say I think shark is a giant douche in a uniform. But with stats like that, give him the ball and see what he can do. Maybe he has figured shit out.
