So, who in your minds (and I'm addressing all of the minor league gurus) have the best chances of getting September call-ups? Both Jacksons look to be ready, but Brett I'm guessing could stay down another year, even though he's making it tough on management. Which of our 2B/SS prospects other than Barney might get consideration?

It's getting close to crunch time.

I think that answer will become a bit more clear after the trade deadline. There's no room on the 40 man roster at this time, but some trades could make some room. Also, minor league playoffs are a factor.

-For middle infielders, the only other guys I could see getting a call up is Tony Thomas and Matt Camp. Thomas has hit pretty well in AA this year and Camp could get an audition as a super sub. Nate Samson may have an outside chance.
-If Lee is traded, Bryan LaHair probably gets his roster spot. Matthew Spencer is a dark horse here.
-I think it's a guarantee that at least one catcher will get a call up. My money is on Chirinos, but Castillo has shown a little bit of patience and a lot of power at AAA.
-Outfielders, James Adduci is already on the 40 man. He probably gets a shot. Ty Wright has struggled in his first 50 ABs at Iowa, but he could be rewarded fro his great year at AA. I don't think Jackson is likely to get a call up yet. He hasn't even had 100 ABs in Tenn.
-We could see a lot of pitchers up. Gaub, Dolis, and Parker are all on the 40 man and are possibilities. Dolis not so much as I think they want him to get as many starts as possible. Jay Jackson, Thomas Diamond, Austin Bibens-Dirkx, Casey Coleman, Hung-Wen Chen, and Christopher Carpenter are all ready to get starts in this situation, but NONE of them are on the 40 man. I think 2 of them will get a chance. And then there's the guys that have been shipped back and forth from Chicago to Iowa (Schlitter, Stevens, Russell, Samardzijia, etc.)

My best guess would be these guys will be up at some point:
Matt Camp
Bryan LaHair
Robinson Chirinos
James Adduci
Ty Wright
John Gaub
Blake Parker
Thomas Diamond
Jay Jackson
Everyone else that is at Iowa that has had a call up this year.

This would require 6 spots on the 40 man to open up. Assuming 3 players are traded (Lilly, Theriot, Lee), three more would come off, most likely Fuld, Hoffpauir, and Caridad to the 60 day DL.

None of these guys will amount to shit.

Ty Wright could be a platoon outfielder, Parker and Gaub could be fixtures in the bullpen, and Jay Jackson should be a middle of the rotation starter. Diamond and LaHair have an outside shot of being major leaguers based on their former top prospect statuses IMO.

I've come to the realization that the Cubs will never grow an All-Star out of their system. They'll never win the World Series (probably never win an NL pennant). And the Cardinals and White Sox will continue to win pennants and World Series every three or four years or so.

I'm throwing in the fucking towel. I can't take it anymore.

Thanks for the list, Scarey. I'd like to see Diamond, Jackson and maybe 1-2 position players. I hope Shark just goes away.

Our 20 year old shortstop has the 5th best OPS among shortstops in all of MLB. The only players that he is behind is Furcal (2 time all star), Troy Tulowitzki (2010 all star), Hanley Ramirez (3 time all star), and Alex Gonzalez (pulled a career year out of his ass, but still was a 1 time all star). I have a feeling Starlin will be an all star at some point.

He'll have a career-ending injury before that happens.
