Silva & Hendry

The Cubs are 7-1 in games he's started and he's already had 6 quality starts.

By the same token, Hendry should be given a bit of praise for making this trade happen.

When the trade went through, I figured it wasn't horrible, but assumed we'd be sending Bradley off for nothing more than some money and a player we'd DFA and eat his contract. Silva has really surprised me thus far. It's starting to look like Hendry has made a very good trade.

See, I can't get past the fact that I assume Hendry thought the same thing. Happy accident sure...but he gets credit for what, luck? I'd find it easier to give Larry Rothschild credit.

You're forgetting that Hendry had a couple of ugly contracts that he had to decide on. Guys like Byrnes, Mathews Jr., and Rowand were options too. Maybe it was pure luck. It also could have been something Hendry saw in the scouting report and felt Rothschild could fix. Most were disappointed when we found out Silva was the guy instead of one of the other names that were floating around. Turns out we're all very happy with the return compared to the other possiblities.

Signing Bradley in the first place and being forced to dump him in a deal for Silva, however...

Yes, I don't think a single person here has ever disputed that. But credit has to be given for turning something bad into something good.

Credit also has to be given to people that pick winning Powerball numbers.

I actually went with a Coke and a box of Runts. I then reinvested the rest into more Lotto tickets. Do I still get credit?

You get credit just for playing. Your success is just the happy ending after a nice massage.

It all depends on the banana-to-all-other-fruit ratio in the Runts.

I loved lime.

EDIT: QUOTE The original lineup of Runts included banana, orange, cherry, strawberry, and lime. In the late nineties, watermelon, and blue raspberry were added, and lime was removed.

Lime and Cherry are gone, replaced by grape and green apple. Watermelon and Blue Raspberry are gone too. A true upgrade in my mind. I'm partial to the orange and strawberry though.
