How about Brenly?

I don't think that disqualifies him, but I think it says something.
It may not say anything more sinister than that he's priced himself out of the market because he's in a cushy job and already has a ring. For better or worse, he may have decided to be expensive.

It's a cushy job, but one that can't pay him even 50% of what he'd make as a manager. Is it conceivable that it's something other than teams not being interested in him has kept him from getting a job? I guess it's possible for at least some open jobs. But since Brenly was fired from the Diamondbacks, the only teams to not have a managerial vacancy are the Braves, Red Sox, White Sox, Angels, Twins, & Cardinals. 80% (24/30) of teams have had an opening. I think it says something.

You may be right, Kid. Cito Gaston has two rings, and after the Blue Jays fired him, he went unemployed for what, about a decade? I thought that was weird.

IIRC, Brenly was not given a lot of credit for steering a loaded D-Bax team to a ring. But he did seem perfectly competent, and nothing I've seen or heard from him in the booth over all these years has indicated that he's a raging a-hole, or clueless about strategy or anything obvious.

Personally, I think his opinions are spot-on, but maybe he's too opinionated.

I honestly think the only jobs he'd take would be in Chicago or San Francisco.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

I think he'd make an exception to take over the Yankees or Red Sox~

If you ever tune in to the South Side broadcasts, you'd think he still is. Stone interjects Cubs-related tidbits into games whenever he can. He is obsessed.

I firmly believe that Stone is miserable working for the White Sox.

I wish I could believe that. I think he's thrilled to have a platform from which to air his petty grievances.

No doubt. It's funny how he has a hard time even talking about the Sox players but can bring up Cubbies for any situation he's talking about. They need to bring him back and dig up Harry. Best duo ever IMO.

I have to disagree because of 2 things I've seen/heard him do as a Sox announcer that I never saw or heard while he was working for the Cubs. One is that I've seen him wear a White Sox jacket while working for them. Do you ever remember seeing him wear anything Cubs in 20 years announcing for the team?

The other is that during the game a few weeks ago where Buehrle was thrown out by Joe West, he referred to the White Sox as either "us" or "we." It stood out to me because he never did that while he was working for the Cubs.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena. [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

I was going to make the exact same point. I even recall a few times on the radio when he was being interviewed on WGN while still working as a Cubs broadcaster where he scolded fans for referring to the team as "us" or "we", so that is very telling. He is a dick.

I've totally turned on Steve Stone(even though I'll always respect his incredible knowledge of the game), but the "us" and "we" stuff I think is simply because of Hawk. Once the broadcast is already so biased and amateur, might as well just go with it.
