He fucked up when he gave up the HR. He fucked up worse when he returned to the dugout and got into it with Lee.

Z is having a terrible year along with the rest of the club. Z hasn't been able to consistently get his fastball above 90 all season. I don't believe he's healthy.

Today was supposed to be a big re-start to the season and he shit the bed. That doesn't give him an excuse to go bat shit crazy. Nor does a possible injury.

I expect to hear a great condemnation of Z from every person who ever had anything against the guy. He deserves it. I also know that the club can kiss the next few seasons goodbye if Z can't get his shit back together and win some games for this club. He's basically untradeable without paying 80% + of his contract for about a season. So get used to him folks and hope he turns shit around
I honestly don't think he throws another pitch for us, and I said that right after the incident. Hendry's quotes make me think that so much more.

The one silver lining to ridding ourselves of Z and eventually ARam, is that we will have finally purged the team of any remnants from 2003. We need a good cleansing and a reboot to this franchise because it stinks of death.

I agree.

Am I the only one that thinks this got blown out of proportion in a hurry? Yeah, Z was being Z...and he did something stupider than usual IF he called out D-Lee. You can see that he walks past Lee without directing anything at him and starts yelling at no one in particular after he's passed Lee. He turns and keeps yelling as he paces back the other direction. But who knows what he said that Lee was responding to when Lee told him to STFU. It could have been any stupid-ass thing. We'll probably never know. So then he gets in Lee's face...they separated and Z got marched up the tunnel. He was probably told to cool off and he did...and returned to the dugout and Lou patted him on the leg...it looked like things had settled down. So what happened after that? When did Z get sent home? It didn't look like Piniella was escalating it.

Piniella is quoted about Z needing to apologize to his teammates. That seems reasonable.

Then Hendry pulls this.

There's also a *rumor* that Z went batshit crazy on cameramen as he was leaving the stadium. The dude's a child.

Well, that rumor should be confirmed any minute now...since WMAQ plans to air the footage.

I still like Z. Maybe it's irrational, but I do. Dumping Z won't make us any better and we'll be fucking shitty *and* boring, to boot.

I don't know how anyone could support Z through this bullshit. I really don't. This isn't a one time thing. I am sick of Hendry as much as the next guy but I am not sure what the hell else he is supposed to do. I get a feeling a lot of Cubs players are sick of Z as well. It is time to move on. He sucks anymore anyway.

I am so sick of this team. Is there another team that is as consistently disfunctional as the Cubs have been over the last few years? I am getting no enjoyment out of being a Cubs fan for the first time that I can remember. I really don't want to watch another game until most of these fuckers are gone.

Here is the difference between this incident and the others. Z wasn't singling out Lee or any one individual like in the Barrett episode. He was calling out the entire team. That's pretty damning. If it were a one-off event and this was just simple frustration, it would be understandable. I don't see it that way though. I see a player with diminishing skills who isn't mature enough to work through his problems. His only reaction is to blame everyone around him. He must feel very isolated at the moment, but he's brought it upon himself. Sure, some of this could have been handled better by Lou and Hendry, but at a certain point they can't be expected to coddle Z at all times. He can't be managed.

In the bigger picture, this team is done. The window of opportunity is now closed. I won't shed a tear over losing Z or anyone else. I'm over him, and won't defend him any longer.

One scenario: Z goes to the White Sox.
1. he's extremely close pals with Ozzie Guillen.
2. Z really wants to stay in Chicago.
3. The Sox have been stunning the world by taking on some crazy contracts, like that of Alex Rios. And since that turned out good for them, they may think it's a good business plan.

In this situation, it would be a pure contract dump. We'd get zero in return.

My take: I'm like Butch. I like Z, I like that he shows emotion. I think both Lou and Hendry have this college-baseball mentality where everyone is supposed to be an honor student, and only show positive emotion and hustle, and they end up exacerbating incidents like this.
Yeah, volatile Z blew up for the 40th time. Who cares?
I'd start him again in 5 days.

But if you really can't stand his presence, then the White Sox will gladly take him.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I think, as usual, there is a lot of assuming going on about things that go on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to. I'm going to go ahead and guess that this situation is a little worse than "Carlos just being Carlos".

This never happens if Lou and Hendry don't move him to the bullpen for no god damn reason.

Also, fuck Lee and his pussy ass. He's a complacent bitch too.

It's obvious by the players actions and motions, the way that they are playing is that they don't want to be there at the moment. They have had enough and thrown in the towel. Thinking what tropical island they will be on in the offseason. What type of high performance Italian sports car they will be driving next. Anything than lets play this game, lets play to win.

Fuck 'em, fuck 'em all in the ear.

Blow this fucking team up. Go in with a broom. Get rid of the cobwebs. Play guys that want to be there, that will play the game hard. But in doing so, have a plan. Not wait till next year as I think next season is a write off with the current contracts. Have a game plan of 2-3 years time. Trade guys like Zambrano, Lily, Fukudome, Theriot and Nady. See if Lee will go elsewhere with his limited no trade. Trade for A or AA prospect guys that have a view of playing in 2-3 years time. Build around Castro, Cashner, Colvin. Look to guys like Vitters, Jackson and Lee contributing for the future.

This team sucks donkey dick. I would prefer to watch Iowa play than this crap.

I agree. I'm done with this team...and this team is making me close to being done with the Cubs. I really don't enjoy watching them. When I saw the incident with Z all I could do was laugh. It's like a god damn reality show now, and I don't want to pay to see the Real World starring multi-millionaires. Z can hop on the next plane to Venezuela for all I care.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy
