Nah, Keith Richard's stiff.

I think it was clear he already had mailed it in this year...

MLB Network is showing Lou's press conference at 3:45.

Good to see him gone. Now it's just a matter or Ryno or Girardi. I just hope one of them can deal with this mess!

It would be interesting to know who we are actually targeting. IMO, the GM is FAR more important than the manager, so I really have no major preference. Girardi would be nuts to leave NY, but a lot of us preferred him to Lou 3 years ago, so if he's available, he'd be a solid option.
I do hope they at least consider Brenly.

FWIW, although I wasn't doing cartwheels at his hiring, I think Lou has done a fine enough job here. He won 2 division titles. He was more forward-thinking than I'd anticipated. We've had much worse.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I love how MLB network found it necessary to show the Cubs 2010 montage of blunders. Fucking turds.

Good call. It was fucking dumb. Why not show some highlights from Lou's career instead?

I think Lou brings a lot to the team that you never see. He's one of those "dumb as a fox" guys. What you see on camera and quotes is what he wants you to see.

No doubt, he's a character, much like Ditka was, but he has overseen the best stretch of Cubs baseball in my lifetime as a Cub fan (almost 40 years now).
He's my Ditka--and it's going to real hard for anyone behind him to replicate this current string of winning.

I do believe that we will end up over .500, and with the right things falling into place (with injuries befalling both the reds and Cards) we could really make a run at it.
Who knows, maybe this announcement immediately lights a fire? (also could be gas on it as well).

The guy we need is Dave Duncan, even just as a Pitching coach--I hate the guy, but he sure performs miracles on pitchers.

was it lou or was it the payroll?

As much as I wanted Lou gone, I still like the guy. I'll miss his entertaining , struggling for words, interviews if nothing else.

I never wanted Lou here in the first place, but I'll admit he was entertaining as hell in 2007-08, but since the 2008 playoffs, he's been a different person. The only thing I will miss is the stuttering.

I like Lou just fine, but he has mailed it in it seems. And really as was said earlier in the thread I almost think he has been lacking fire since the gand slam in game 1 against the Dodgers. Since then there have been so many just odd decisions made, less arguments, less overall excitement, and the team is about the worst dsciplined team both on the field and at the plate in baseball. Thanks for your time, but it is time for new blood both on the roster and especially leading this team in the dugout.
