I thought BT was engaging in delightful snark until halfway through this thread. Now I don't know what to believe or whom to trust.

Sorry, my taste in movies is unabashedly low brow. While I enjoy "No Country for Old Men", I am just as happy to watch "Aliens", "Independence Day" or "Cloverfield".
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

My tastes range anywhere from low budget indie horror all the way to high (or low) concept foreign art films. Nothing wrong with a mindless action flick as long long as it brings something new or to the table or at the very least doesn't take itself too seriously. Anywho, I get the feeling that I won't like this one for the same reasons that Cloverfield annoyed the holy hell out of me.

We all have our SpaghettiOs (not the "real thing" but tasty in their own right, and sometimes we just have to crack open a can) movies; mine happen to be the crap-type of comedies that you can catch in the morning on Comedy Central. I just feel for my tastes, schlocky action was perfected with <i>Commando</i> in the mid-'80s. Really, any movie that boasts heavy artillery turns me off. And if I live to be one hundred and yet never see another movie featuring space aliens--even if it happens to be a thirty-years-later E.T. parody--I don't believe that I'd mind one bit.

Good to see Brand going against type. I don't always care for the big blockbuster movie, but I do have a soft spot for end of the world, alien/ monster flick. I admit that I liked 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Deep Impact (porno and non-porno) and even Armageddon. I don't pretend that the plot makes any sense or that the acting is any good. I just like watching shit get destroyed.

I fully expect to hate the new version of "The Odd Couple" that's coming out. It's supposed to star Russell Brand and Jim Hendry and it's gonna be brutal.
