Yeah, it is really too bad that we can't get rid of more dead weight.

Silva needs to go away as well, but now with these on again/off again injuries we are stuck with him too. Looks like Z will be back in the rotation sooner than we thought.

If it ain't one thing it's another. Been traveling so very interesting to read all of the takes on the trade. Regardless, the team sucks. So, good for Lilly to get a chance at at least a playoff birth. But ths season for the cubs, just keeps getting worse and worse. For what it's worth, to dump Theriot and give Lilly away as a rental basically, I think the trade was ok. Nothing earth shattering and nothing that I think will spin this thing around anytime soon, but I am fine with it I guess. Wallach seems to be an ok arm prospect, but I highly doubt DeWitt is the answer at 2nd. Would love to be proven wrong.

I always liked Blake Dewitt and think there's something there. Not saying he'll become a great player or anything, but he seems capable of it. I've seen him make some sensational plays at 2nd and 3rd for the Dodgers, and at times he looks good at the plate. I believe I saw Kevin Goldstein(BP) say how he has probably the sweetest swing for a guy that hasn't done much yet. But he's just 24. I'll take the Dewitt/Theriot trade in a heartbeat. And even if he never amounts to shit, at least he won't get thrown out at 3rd base on a groundball to the left side of the infield 5 times a week.

I'll miss Theriot. He was Liquid Plummer on the basepaths.

Who is the answer at 2nd base? There aren't many Utley's out there. The Cardinal's two second baseman are Skippy and the hard hitting Miles. DeWitt's natural position is 3rd, but he's too light hitting to be a corner IF and we already have Ramirez. I think he's perfectly fine at 2nd.

I would agree. We as fans have been through a billion 2bs it seems since Derosa was sent packing. I think that yes, what the hell put this kid in the lineup every day from here on out and see what he can bring. Soon enough the answer at 2nd will be Castro but probably not for a couple more years. So, give this kid a shot. He seems to hae ok range and is ok at the plate. I hope it works out and he is a baller.

You think Castro should be shifted to 2nd? I don't think Cubs brass plan on doing that anytime soon. The more action he sees at SS the better he looks imo.

Hak-Ju Lee is going to be the next SS. Castro will move to 2B, unless one of them is moved.

Fixed.

The Asian kid at AA is going to be the next SS. Castro will move to 2B, unless one of them is moved.

His name is Hak-Ju Lee. Let's cross that bridge once we get there.

We've been through a billion 2nd basemen since Sandberg left. A lot of them have been decent. Eric Young, Mickey Morandini, Mark Grudzielanek, Todd Walker, Mark DeRosa....for whatever reason 2nd base hasn't been a problem.
