I've given up on this team for this season. They've given up on us, so fuck them.
I'm looking forward to September when the roster expands, though I doubt I'll watch, with much more than passing interest.
Time for some football then college basketball and I'll be ready to try them again come January.
At this point, all I care about is getting Hendry out, getting a new manager in and what the team does in the off season.
Also, I think we need a new B&I Radio in which Rapp joins Butcher in verbally slaying this team. Top to bottom.
I got nothin'.

Did anyone see Castro's amazing play last night...then later his really awful one? The kid is a major talent on a learning curve. I'll keep watching if just for the entertainment he provides.

I haven't watched in a while, but I've still followed closely. Right after the break when they took 3-of-4 from the Phillies, I actually still thought they had a chance. But the 2 Astros series along with the 17-2 and 18-1 losses have pretty much beaten any thought of positivity out of me. I'm actually now hoping they lose from here on out so we get better draft picks.

Same here, though I haven't believed we had a chance since late May. I'm staying away from the ballpark until Ricketts grows a pair and starts instituting change I can believe in.

Hate to say it, but I got a little grief and a little agreement after my comment last week on Wednesday about Lou throwing in the towel and not trying against the Astros, basically handing them a win and the cubs a loss before the game was even played...I said it would affect attitutde. Well...
Haven't won since and have been embarassed, like to the worst degree embarassed, by not that great of teams, twice. They have given up, just like the fat sack of shit manager had last week. I think leadership is overrated a bit, but you still need it to be succesful, regardless of what it is, and this team has lacked it since last season. My hatred for Lou and Hendry is growing by th esecond, and the fact that Ricketts sits back and has done not a damn thing other than sing Hendry's praises since he took over, makes my hatred for him grow as well.
I'm done giving a fuck about games. Hate this group of ass holes. There needs to be changes and accountability, and there is none.

So, just to be clear, you don't think guys like Berg, Coleman, Schlitter, Russell and Cashner, the guys who've given up the majority of the runs the last few days, are "trying"? You think those rookies have "thrown in the towel"? You think they "don't care"? Because Lou "lost them"?

The Cubs have been catastrophically bad the last few days, but the guys doing the most damage are almost all rookies. I promise you they are doing everything in their power to try and win games. If you really think that Cashner, a guy who had been lights out good, a guy who is fighting for him major league future, gave up 12 runs in an inning and a third because he didn't feel like trying anymore, then we are truly in trouble.
This team has plenty of problems, but Lou losing the clubhouse doesn't really make sense.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

The Cubs are piss poor bad. That is a fact. The Cubs are not 18-1, 17-2, 8-1 (to the astros) bad.
Mock my argument all you want, but facts are facts. When Fat Fuck rolled out a half dead shitball lineup the other day, a freaking day game before a day off before a god damn night game, he cashed it in. And everyone saw it. Since then there hasn't been a heartbeat on this team. Not a lick.
And it's not just rookies. In fact Berg has been half ok. But yes, the young arms have imploded, but the vets aren't doing shit either. Everyone is happy to simply ride it out and go through the motions because that is what happened last week. I am not nor claim to be some mastermind, but being outscored a billion to one in the last week signals all have thrown in the towel. Following the leader in that regard.

Bitch all you want about them sucking. I just find the idea that a team that has a rather large number of rookies fighting for their careers would "quit", silly. Maybe Lee quit. Maybe ARam quit. But they aren't the guys letting up record numbers of runs. The rookies are.
Cashner didn't let up 12 runs because he quit. Cashner didn't let up 12 runs because Lou gave up in a previous game. Cashner let up 12 runs because he pitched really fucking poorly.
Let me flip this on you. If you spent a post explaining how the Cubs suck because they wear blue uniforms, do I just let that go because the Cubs do, in fact, suck? If I explain to you that the "Cubs wear blue so they suck" theory is a bad one, is that the same thing as saying "Stop complaining about the Cubs"?

So the fact that, without an amazing catch by Fowler, the Cubs were 6 inches away from tying up a game which they trailed 8-1, shows they have no heartbeat? That was, of course, the day after Lee hit a 3 run home run in the 8th to tie a game they had been losing 5-2. Is a team incapable of showing a heartbeat if they lose?
By the way, Lee tied the game with a three run homer, Soriano hit a home run, and came withing inches of tying it up with his second home run of the game, and all of that came after Byrd hit a 2 run triple. Are those the vets that aren't trying?
