BP's top 10 Cubs prospects list (the article is free to read):
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

Lot of 4-5 starter projections in there.

Araujo was recently showcased in the Arizona Fall League where he pitched quite well. He also pitched impressive numbers for Myrtle Beach. Having said that he hasn't really pitched above high A so I don't like his chances sticking with the Orioles.
Surprised that Clifton or even Young wasn't picked up by a smaller market team.

Two Cubs make Keith Law's top 100 prospects: Aramis Ademan is 78 and Adbert Alzolay is 84. (Gleyber Torres is 5, Eloy Jimenez is 6).
No Cubs in Baseball America's top 100. (Jimenez is 4, Torres is 6).

Torres doesn't sting so much -- he's a middle infielder and there isn't really a place for him on the Cubs for the foreseeable future. Plus, we probably don't win the WS without the trade that brought Chapman here.
Eloy is going to hurt, I think. Quintana is a pretty solid arm, but Jimenez looks like he's going to be an absolute beast. Patient approach, crazy power, above average defense in RF. Of course, after we get Bryce Harper I won't care. |
