Farm System
Quote:This was actually the first I've heard of him in awhile, and it just so happens to be bad news. But I must admit, I haven't been following the minor leauge system closely this year compared to previous seasons.

The best part about the resurgance this year is I can stop focusing on minor leage players.  I actually just unfollowed the Iowa Cubs on twitter today.

Some promotions as well.

* Jake Hannemann goes from Myrtle Beach to Tennessee. Hannemann has been on a tear of late raising his average to .328 to go along with his team leading 7 stolen bases.

* Trey Martin goes from South Bend to Myrtle Beach. A defensive stalwart, Martin rejoins most of his former Kane County teammates and will fit right in in center.

Hannemann homers in his first AA at bat.

Plus another Schwarberbomb.

Baez also went 2-5 today (2 K's) and played flawless defense at 2B according to AZ Phil.

I would really like him to figure things out...imagine that fucking line up with Bryant in LF and Baez part of the IF.

More than anything, him turning things around gives us plenty of options both internally and via trade. Plus, I like the kid and wanna see him succeed.

Fuck a trade, if he figures things out he stays.

Didn't necessarily mean him, just with multiple options it makes any number of IF's expendable.

Quote:Javy Baez played in the game on Field #1, batting eight times (once in each inning), and playing second-base for four innings before moving to shortstop for three innings. He went 1-7 for the day... #1) roped a line drive single to left on a 1-0 pitch in the top of the first inning before scoring the Cubs first run of the day on a sacrifice fly; #2) grounded out sharply 5-3 on an 0-1 pitch in the top of the second inning; #3) sruck out swinging on a 1-2 breaking ball in the third; #4) reached base after being hit by a pitch (upper left arm) on an 0-1 count and then scored a run in the fourth; #5) struck out swinging on a 2-2 breaking ball in the fifth; #6) lined out to right on a 1-1 pitch in the top of the sixth; #7) reached base on a throwing error by the Giants shortstop on a 2-2 pitch in the seventh, and #8) struck out looking on a 2-2 breaking ball in the top of the eighth. He handled four chances in the field flawlessly.
