That's a likely move. And a few weeks ago when it was known this move to Iowa would happen soon, I would have damn near guaranteed it. But, with Olt officially sucking and Valbuena's success, do we think they may still think of Alcantara as the future 2B? More so than a utility?
I'm intrigued to see their lineup/defense once he gets there.

Alcantara probably isn't going to lose the "2nd baseman of the future" label to Valbuena. He might lost it to Baez, though, and be moved to CF. The Cubs OF sucks, so that might not be a bad thing. I could see Alacantara taking over CF soon, if he can hack it defensively.

Alcantara's numbers haven't been that great in AAA. I don't get the love. I think his bat plays great at 2B, and I guess it's okay if he can move to CF. Nevermind. His bat is good enough. Bring him.

Alcantara's OBP is way down from last year , but otherwise all of his other peripherals look good to me with a solid mid-.800 OPS. If his walk rate improves to where it has been for most of his minor league career, he could be a very valuable young versatile switch-hitting ball player.

Christian Villanueva as excpected is heading to Tennessee. I'm good with that. He can play every day, work on his offensive game and stay relevant as a prospect. If he stayed in Iowa he'd end up buried on the bench more than anything.
With his defense, if he can even be close to what he did offensively last year, he could be a nice add in on a Shark deal (or Hammel).

At this point in time he might find more room to flourish in another organization's farm system. Cubs have a lot of young talent around the infield...very competitive.
