2022 Team
As far as Efross goes he was a bright spot this year, but we wont have a shortage of electric bullpen arms coming up any time soon.

I’m taking credit for Hader being traded as I’m pretty convinced me booing him at Miller Park or whatever they call it now was his downfall.

And man, did I get a look from the 70 something year old woman in front of me. She also denied my high five when Hader gave up the lead. Pretty rude really.

Also, his name sucks.

I’m kind on the fence with this one. I thought Efross would be our closer of the future as his stuff is nasty. He isn’t even arb eligible yet, cheap and under years of control. But he could also shit the bed next year, you never know.

Coming back is a near MLB ready #4 starter, which we will definitely need next year. May also show they could be souring on Killian stepping up, or they could just stocking up and trading up in the off-season.

That's why Ross quickly OK'd the trade.

Padres throwing away all that payroll flexibility for generational talent - players don’t win World Series, payroll flexibility does this

Just wait till the Cubs get rid of more MLB talent and gain the ability to …

Are the Cubs blowing this?

Oh wait, they just made a trade...

Ben Brown is the classic high-upside roll-of-the-dice pitcher, but I’m kind of underwhelmed by this return for Robertson. We had better get something good for Contreras and Givens.

No Contreras or Happ trades. Cool? Not really.

I'm seriously starting to think keeping Jed was a massive mistake.

Players knew that they were planned to be moved so they’ve been burned while Front Office miscalculated their values.

Pleased that I get to watch Willco at Wrigley for another 40 ish games but doubt he will resign with club.

Happ has made significant improvements over the last seasons but don’t see him wanting to remain a Cub either.

Now about how the number of articles noting that the Cubs couldn’t sign free agents next offseason due to free agents tied to Qualifying Offers - guess the over / under at 150

BTW, the entire Padres starting position and rotation was acquired via trades

So basically Willson is fucked now when he hits free agency if they extend a QO, and Happ gets to talk shit all offseason on his podcast. Great work, Next Great Cubs Front Office!

Well that was weird. Now what?

Cubs will continue to muddle through the season with a roster that’s not capable of competing in the winnable NL Central but still has some valuable players which aren’t expected to be on roster when Cubs have the resources (players, prospects, cash) to compete. Go Cubs!

I don't know, Willson genuinely seems to want to remain a Cub. With a DH now, extending him makes more sense. I never understood the need to trade Happ, other than he's peaking and may regress, so his value is high. Sounds like it wasn't actually that high. I haven't listened to Ian's podcast, but he's not exactly a player who has earned the right to feel slighted by the team shopping him, and I say that as a fan of his. And I think he's smart enough and down to earth enough to get that. Either way, he has another year of team control and is a young player, so I'm glad he wasn't traded.

I don't know if Jed shit the bed or not today, but I do know a year ago so many fans were bemoaning the poor returns for the Cubs players, and now a lot of those same armchair GMs are saying the Mets didn't act because the Cubs fleeced them last year, and how last year was great and this year wasn't, etc. I feel like if you have a take on all this you're TOTALLY sure about, you're wrong, whatever that take is.
