I'm sure at one point they were all offered something.  KB is probably going to do quite well at Coors.

I see the Cubs are fully in their usual sign scrap heap relievers mode.

He's gonna hit a whole lot of bombs for a team that never makes the playoffs. But I imagine his priorities are different now. He got his ring/ROY/MVP -- his legacy is cemented. Now he got his big payday, he's close to Vegas, and he can be out of the spotlight and focus on his family a bit more. Good for him.

I feel good for him as well as bad for him. I'm glad he got the years, Denver is a great city and CO a great state but man, playing for that owner? I'm sure he had second thoughts just looking at players like Aranado and Story.

Like you said, he's got his WS ring and place in baseball lore, but I had hoped he would go do a good team and see the playoffs from time to time, like I hoped for all of them.

Agreed, and to that end it would be cool if in like 4 or 5 years Bryant is dealt to the Cubs or another team with money to spend making a playoff run. Not the Rockies definitely won't have a run in his time there, but that's a tough division and they don't seem to have plan.

Looks like Marquez finally reported...had covid again.  Hope he isn't a what could have been...

Have a feeling his 1 Cubs appearance will be his last.

Spoken as true, die hard, Cub fans, We are all doomed.

Looking for us to be proven wrong regarding Marquez

Remember when I was excited about the Ricketts owning the Cubs? Man...that went away quickly.

It takes some doing to bring the WS trophy to town and be despised within a few short years.

To be fair, the Cubs situation in all facets has improved drastically under their ownership from where it was. Unfortunately where it was an incredibly low bar.

It takes a special talent to get from 2016 to 2022.

They should've earned a lifetime pass for giving us 2016. Then we slowly discovered just how awful Joe, Todd, and Pete are. Then the Sinclair deal. Then they decided to cry poor instead of pushing all their chips into the center of the table while the championship window was still open. Then the sports book. And now they're chasing an EPL team after all of that shit.

That's how you piss away a lifetime of goodwill in 5 short years.

As mentioned, the family is a very special group

Maybe theyll grow tired of the Cubs toy and sell it off at a ridiculous profit but suck the ability to compete from the new owners for a decade or so due to ridiculous debt obligations/imposed restrictions. Unfortunately, depending on new owners that may be a best case scenario

Sounds like the bid is in jeopardy, unsurprisingly the anti muslim Ricketts comments are biting them in the ass.

Looks like I'll be rooting for season ending injuries for Machado from now on, douchebag was wearing a Lets Go Brandon shirt at ST yesterday.
