2022 Team
MLB has a new CBA

Cubs might have an everyday outfielder that could be above MLB average as Ace reports agreement with Seiya Suzuki

This should turn out to be a shrewd signing given his age, contact ability and room to grow, but what do I know?

Lol of course Ken Griffin is joining the Ricketts family in their bid for Chelsea.  Piss anyone else off this fucking family claims poor and can't pay for a Cubs team, but are about to drop 4 billion fucking dollars on an EPL team?

It's such extraordinary bullshit. What the fuck.

I can't remember who it was on Twitter, but someone pointed out that these elite athletes have spent their entire lives training, competing, and dominating at every level of the game to beat impossible odds and play at the highest level possible. All owners have to do is essentially pay their way into membership of an exclusive country club. They don't even need to understand the sport at its most basic level.

It's time for me to accept the fact that the Cubs are just an investment to the Ricketts family. They're a bunch of embarrassing goons. Todd, Pete, Joe...these are the guys that own my beloved franchise?

Ken fucking Griffin.  Is anyone shocked he's buddies with them?

I don't know much about him. But I get the feeling he's a real piece of human garbage.

I'm happy about Suzuki. The idea that the Ricketts are going to buy an EPL team and ever claim poor again when it comes to spending on the Cubs should be over...except of course that they might end up over-extended. Ugh.

He owns the massive hedge fund Citadel and he's constantly at war with Lightfoot and threatening to leave Chicago.

So didn't the Cubs offer Bryant over $200mil? Was that ever confirmed? Seeing some claiming online that all three (Bryant, Rizzo and Baez) were offered more than they signed for by the Cubs. I suppose we may never know, but I'd really like to. And obviously when they were offered those extensions plays a big factor too, they may be better off having played for what they made and signing their respective deals now.

Other than the rumored offer for Rizzo, I don’t believe Bryant, Baez, nor anyone else received an extension offer

I thought the front office indicated after the trades they had made offers to all 3 over the years that they thought would hold up when they hit the open market. Looking around Bryant's rumored 200 mil offer was back in 2018, according to rumors/reports (that may not be true), so that's obviously long ago.

I'm sure at one point they were all offered something.  KB is probably going to do quite well at Coors.

I see the Cubs are fully in their usual sign scrap heap relievers mode.

He's gonna hit a whole lot of bombs for a team that never makes the playoffs. But I imagine his priorities are different now. He got his ring/ROY/MVP -- his legacy is cemented. Now he got his big payday, he's close to Vegas, and he can be out of the spotlight and focus on his family a bit more. Good for him.

Not going to lie, didn't REALLY expect to see us sign Correa...but Simmons as our everyday shortstop is really a swift kick in the gonads.

Between Simmons, Heyward, Madrigal, and Hoerner, that's probably about 5 homers on the season.
