I don't anticipate a name change any time soon. Didn't the Braves pay off some indigenous group to put out a statement that they were proud of the team's name and not at all offended as a publicity stunt? Anyway, their cartoonish mascot needs to at the very least be retired forever, and the tomahawk chop along with it, but the fans will probably never let it go. If they ever do change their name, hopefully their ownership uses a different focus group than the geniuses in Cleveland that came up with the Guardians.

I doubt they change their name anytime soon, but I think it's the only way they'd ever retire the tomahawk chop/chant (which is just over the top blatantly offensive).

I went to a few Cubs games at Turner Field over 10 years ago when the Braves sucked and they they would just pipe that shit in over the PA with ridiculously loud drums, synchronized lighting, etc. Most of the time the crowd wouldn't even join in. There were probably more Cubs fans there than anyone, but the whole thing was just pathetic and I had hoped it would've disappeared by now.

Sucks to see some of the Astros players in the WS but I actually found myself being happy for Baker.
I never liked him as a manager but I always liked him as a person, always thought it was a cool dude. And he absolutely does deserve to win one. But I'm still going to be rooting for the Braves who I think will get there. I'll just have to stomach their ignorant fans being happy.

I agree, I found myself being happy for Baker as well. Also, I feel guilty about how incredibly happy I am that the Dodgers were eliminated because I know so many wonderful people out here who are Dodgers fans. But man, they really are the Yankees of the late 90s / early 2000s, you just have to hate them. That Scherzer couldn't go today because of how he was used...delicious.

Sounds like Dave Roberts may be on shaky ground these days. Hard to imagine letting him go after a WS and then 106 win season, but who knows...

Feels to me like the Braves have destiny on their side but yeah, if Astros win it will be miserable.
Their fans are horrific as well. Both fanbases of these teams just suck.

Morton pitched 16 pitches over a couple innings - so tested and warmed up between and before inning - on a broken leg. Crazy.
Unfortunately, my thinking went to how many pain killers is this guy on to deadening the pain to allow that activity.

We are in the bottom of the third and I don't think I can root for Atlanta anymore...their fans are just too despicable. It looks/feels like thousands and thousands of people doing the Nazi salute. Can't take it. I'm better understanding now why my father-in-law is refusing to watch a second of this.

Must say I have totally tuned out of the World Series now. Its all about Bulls basketball now for me - although with Williams out for the season and LaVine having a busted thumb, my optimism is turning...

The Braves are obviously owned by some right wing company--dead giveaway is the word 'liberty' in their name. I'm so freaking out of the loop, I didn't even know Turner sold them like 50 years ago. So it makes sense that they pump in the drum beat as a prompt for the crowd to do that shit.
