Video Games.
Quote:jeff, not sure if you've given the campaign a try yet for BF1. But there is a dogfighting flying side to one of the storylines.

Oh nice. I'll give it a go.

Downloaded a Genesis emulator on my phone. Sonic 2 is fantastic.

BF1 multiplayer is quite addicting.

I've had enough of the battlefront style of games and sucking up the place. Is it easier to play on the PC than on a console?

Regarding multiplayer toughness, I got pretty good at Star Wars Battlefront, but man do I suck at BF1. Both games were designed by the same company (DICE), so I thought the style of play would be similar...nope! BF1 seems much faster and more complicated than just point and shoot.

All I do is play the Scout (sniper) on BF1, and every once in a while I get lucky snipe someone from a distance. As soon as I go down in the trenches as an Assualt or Support soldier...I get raped.

I agree with jeff....BF1 multiplayer is very addicting

Was going to get BF1, but started playing The Division instead. It's a lot of fun, but there are times where I don't think I'll ever make it past a boss.

I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

Yes, it's much easier to aim with a mouse, but I guess it depends on what you're used to. I absolutely suck when playing any shooter on consoles, but I do pretty well on PC.

What are the best single-player RPG games currently available?  Have they gone the way of the dinosaur with everything being MMORPG?  I just want something I can waste an hour here or there on and not have to worry about clans/guilds, other people or it being massively over-complicated.

I got nothin'.

Check out The Witcher 3 or even Skyrim (there's a new resmasted edition out). Dark Souls 3 is supposed to be really good as well, but I haven't got around to trying it yet.

There's also Fallout 4 and Mass Effect 3 if you want something a bit different.

I'm actually going back and playing Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and it's great. I absolutely love the pirate theme, and it's a gorgeous world to roam around...as well as plunder, pillage, etc.

Witcher 3 is probably my favourite, that bugbear took six months off me last year. The side game gwent is now getting it's own stand alone card game similar but different to Hearthstone.

Dragon Age Inquisition still holds up very well.

Shadows of Mordor is outstanding.

Fallout 4 is fun as hell. I found myself creating settlements more than anything. People have whole youtube channels dedicated to it.

Shadow of Mordor was a lot of fun. I just wished it was a little more challenging. The game seemed to hold your hand through everything, rather than having you figure it out for yourself. I think I beat the last two guys in only 2 attempts, along with showing you exactly where to go (and how to do it) for every challenge you faced.

I just think of the Zelda games back in the day, where you spent days looking for what you needed because they didn't tell you shit. Even though it was frustrating as hell, I always enjoyed the challenge.

Did you try turning up the difficulty settings, or does it not make much of a difference?

I had it on normal. In hind sight, I should have tried a harder setting.

Speaking of tough games, if you lads ever want more of an old school RPG challenge, check out Darkest Dungeon. The combat is kind of like the old Final Fantasy games, except your guys will actually die...quite a bit, which is a challenge that is kind of refreshing compared to the "hand-holding" type of games you mentioned. I believe it's only available on PC and PS4 at the moment, but probably coming to Xbox and mobile eventually.

I just saw a quick walkthrough of Darkest Dungeon.  The presenter had one of his characters die in the tutorial.  Now that sounds challenging.  Might have to take a look.  Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
