2020 Team
Also bummed that Lester signed with another organization. Lester is pretty much done as an effective starter. Expecting to read of Jon’s trip to DL for lingering injury about 40 games into the season. His professionalism and attitude would still be valuable to a young rotation.

Shit, I posted Cohen's tweet in the MLB thread. Yeah, glad we dodged that bullet. And the Mets are still a mess, so win-win.

Yeah, would have been the cherry on top of two really shitty seasons that's for sure.

Having him retire a Cub would've been really nice.

So we have lost Yu, Lester, Quintana and Chatwood from the starting rotation.

We have Hendricks who is great, Davies who is an ok 3-4 starter, Mills who is a 6th starter and a rookie in Alzolay. Kind of an absolute shit sandwich there.

I think it's safe to say the Cubs aren't trying to field a World Series caliber team in 2021. The NL Central is there for the taking, too...

Even with all those guys, doubt we would be competing for a WS, but aside from that it just doesn't appear the organization is interested in adding anyone with a guaranteed contract above $1mil. It's a quantity over quality strategy, which always works out well.

Cubs awarded a free agent a contract for 2021 for more than $1 MM! That’s an accomplishment

Christ, Blue Jays need starters so makes sense, Cubs might be able to get a top 15 prospect in return...?

Blue Jays are after a 3B as well so it wouldn't surprise me if they are talking. I'm against a trade off as this division is (was) for the taking this year. But if you're going to do a sell off, may as well go for it instead of going half-assed with no game plan which is what it seems to be happening. Or rather just a salary dump as Mr Ricketts wants a new toy.

I might be adopting the Blue Jays as my AL team if this goes through...
