I think there's a higher likelihood that Friedman walks away before Roberts is fired. And don't believe either will happen after the season they just had.

This has been my feeling as well.  But I couldn't see several of the recent hires being made either, like Aaron Boone. So who knows.

Yeah, unless he doesn't want the job, all signs point to Ross. I'm curious if they get a chance to interview Espada if he ends up as their fallback option, but it honestly doesn't matter unless the roster is revamped.

I didn't watch it closely at all, but to me the lesson isn't the manager shit the bed as much as it is anything can happen in the playoffs and you can't waste a season. The Cubs wasted a season, and both NLDSs just drove that point home.

Looks like Justin Stone (who?) is on the verge of being named the Cubs director of hitting. He's been a consultant for the team and also president of Elite Baseball Training here in Chicago.
